Omg! omg! I'm REALLY excited! |
|
I e-mailed a professor I've had, in order to try to get into one of her classes next semester that's already full. First she e-mailed me that I could get in, THEN I got another e-mail from her, telling me that she thinks I already know the material, so she offered me an independent-study spot, wherein I would attend the class, research, and help develop exercises and even "lead a class or two," like a teaching assistantship! I ADORE the professor I'll be working with, and I NEVER expected to be offered something special. I am so excited!

I'm so excited that I get to do it! I can't wait to go meet with my professor and plan it out. I think it's going to be a really great experience.

that is fantastic. I know how it feels to be wait-listed on those stupid classes so I'm glad you are getting around it. I always have to deal with that because I try to take all mine online. Congrats! :toast:

Are you interested in teaching at all? Even if not, this is a great opportunity. I wish I'd reached out to professors more when I was in school -- but I do think education is wasted on the young sometimes. I was an insecure late-teen/early-twenties kid who never dreamed of 'cultivating' professors. Mentors are invaluable... this professor sounds like someone who could be a great friend and a mentor to you. Way to go!
