I avoid it all year long, I guess, because I am the cheapest bitch you will ever run across. If it can't be found at Goodwill or the library or anywhere else for free I don't want any part of it, lol.

9. Me. I'd rather stick a spork in my eye than go shopping today.
No force on Earth could get me to a mall on Black Friday. Anyhow, it was 60 degrees today, so I took the opportunity to do yard work and put up Christmas lights (which seemed weird because it was so oddly warm).

10. I worked and didn't buy a thing
A woman I met says if you go to seva.org, you can find ways to give the gift of service to people instead of merchandise this season. I think this is a snazzy idea and may post it to GD. It seems to me, my humble opinion, that though we think we are giving presents to those we love during Christmas and Hanukkah time, the ones we're really giving to are corporations.

I never shop the day after Thanksgiving. For many a year I had no idea it was the biggest shopping day of the year; as I'm not the biggest shopper. I love to shop, when I feel like it. Meanwhile, I hate crowded stores and try to go when it's not so busy.

Perky, please keep on posting your hot-dude pic! :P :applause:

My twelve year old son got up early to attend a special secret invitation to pick up one of three brand new Sony Wii play games our town received. I guess he singlehandedly jump started the economy. I'm having fun with the newest and most coveted gewgaw in town. ;)

28. Avoid them and all the days afterwards
I abandoned the winter consumerism many years ago. But when I was out today, the roads seemed awfully quiet. Almost like you'd see on christmas day. Even when I passed through a shopping area. But then I had to cut my ride short when I realized a brake pad had worn out and needed replacing - pronto! Done. I had spares at home.

a lot of fun, great costumes and singing. Old showgirls, dancers and performers - the youngest 58, the oldest 83. We should all be so active and talented at their ages.

33. I had my Thanksgiving Dinner on Friday
Edited on Sat Nov-25-06 01:45 AM by clyrc
I got sick on Thanksgiving eve, but I went to the doctor and got some medicine which fixed me up to cook on Thursday and Friday. We had friends over, and it was so nice, discounting the fact that no one helped me with dishes, or any other sort of cleaning.

The last Thanksgiving I spent in the States, my husband informed me that we would be choosing the buy nothing option on the day after. I believe he stayed home and watched football, but I took my daughters to friends and then did some shopping. One of these days (and we've been married 14 years now) that man will realize that saying "Hey Chris, what do you think about buying nothing the day after Thanksgiving?" instead of "We are not buying anything the day after Thanksgiving." is a much better option.
