I have two things to say tonight:
Edited on Wed Nov-29-06 12:19 AM by MJDuncan1982
1) My neighbor beneath me is snoring at a ridiculously high decibel level and

2) I'm the last person on earth to catch onto the whole "ICE thing" regarding cell phones.

EDIT:

3) There is a difference between TWO and TOO!

EDIT #2:

4) 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4...not 2...

1. The ICE thing
is a good thing. Glad you finally learned about it. :)

Sorry about the snoring.

3. In Case of Emergency
Edited on Wed Nov-29-06 12:47 AM by Kutjara
You put the number of your next of kin (or whoever you want to be contacted if something happens to you) into your cellphone and store it as 'ICE' with their name after it.

An example is ICE (mom).

Then, when the emergency services or police find your dismembered corpse, they can look for the ICE number on your phone and let your relative/friend know.

6. They probably would...
...but you might not necessarily want (for example) elderly parents to be the first to know. Maybe you'd want your boyfriend/girlfriend or brother/sister to be told instead. ICE lets you choose who will be told. Also, some people store numbers by name, so it isn't always obvious who each person is.

5. My mom is listed under "mom" and my dad is under "dad"
that should be enough right?

7. As long as you're happy that they are the ones who'll be contacted.
The ICE system has two advantages: First, rescue services know to look for ICE, so it saves time. Secondly, it lets you choose who they call.

8. That's what I love about it
I get to choose who they will call. Not all of us have a mom or dad entry. I wouldn't want them to randomly pick a friend.
