2. He thinks he's the baddest thing to ever hit the planet
because he catches small-time, non-violent drug offenders that have skipped out on bail. Maybe not the most hideous thing on the planet, but he's definitely an idiot.

17. Yeah, and then after the big, hyped-up chase
where the adrenaline's a-poundin' and music's a roarin' and the heart's a pumpin', more often than not the offender turns out to be somebody that puts up no fight and starts crying.

And then, Dog can show his sensitive self where he starts to talk gently to them while he hauls them away to the prison-industrial complex so they can be the next manufacturer's for corporate America's cheap goods.

In many ways Dog is the perfect show for unmasking the absurdities of the War on Drugs. The first half of the show is how law enforcement and the government like to view their role: as righteous pumped-up warriors hell bent on ridding the world of this dangerous menace to our society. But then when we actually see who it is they're chasing, all we see are dysfunctional but relatively normal people that are having troubles in their lives. And the government's solution to it is to put them in handcuffs and haul them away to jail.

relate that old expression to this post. What old expression? The old expression that says, " if I had a dog with a face like that, I would shave it's ass and make him walk backwards."

18. It basically a (bad) hair style....
The most recent classic example is from the movie ?path=gallery&path_key=0245686">Joe Dirt

But a google search will turn up tons of sites "dedicated" to this rather "unique" style....

20. definitely a mile marker in the decline of civilization
I've never watched the show but it was all the rage at the ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT CHANNEL for awhile.

The nerve of them--to call themselves the "Arts & Entertainment Channel"--while featuring this show so often. It seemed like it was on practically every night. In fact, for awhile I referred to it as the "Dog the Bounty Hunter Channel."

He must not have done so well because they have cut back on his shows and now it seems they run CSI Miami in about every time slot that's available.

What a sad decline. That used to be one of my favorite channels but I haven't watched anything on A&E for about a year now.

23. some role model

From wikipedia: Before becoming a bounty hunter, Chapman had frequent scrapes with the law, including 18 arrests for armed robbery. In 1977, Chapman was convicted of murder; he was sentenced to 5 years of hard labor. He attained parole in 1979, and maintains that he is innocent of the original charges, as it was a fellow gang member who actually committed the murder itself.

He's currently fighting extradition to Nexico over felony charges.

I didn't even know about this idiot until last month's South Park episode where he was parodied.

34. I'm really glad he's no longer robbing and killing folk
But it seems he's just replaced his old gangland lifestyle with a new, legal gangsta lifestyle.

I like how he goes after all these minor drug offenders and then offers them a cigarette.

Fuck the war on (some) drugs.

30. He is a symbol of how far the once great channel A&E has fallen
A&E used to stand for Arts and Entertainment, and it showed documentaries and British and Australian dramas.

They are now dead to me, ever since they stopped showing their last intelligent program, MI-5 (British spy drama known as "Spooks" in its home country) and treated it badly in the process. First, they started showing the new season without any announcement, then they stopped after two episodes. Then, after a month, they showed the remaining six episodes of that season in a Saturday afternoon marathon.

Period.

What a comedown for the channel that used to show wonderful British miniseries and detective programs (Horatio Hornblower, Tenko, Cracker, Dalziel and Pascoe, Silent Witness, A Touch of Frost, The Ruth Rendell Mysteries) that never made it to PBS.
