Minnesota versus California!
In Minnesota, they have "snow emergencies", meaning that after a significant snowfall (usually over 3 inches) municipalities ban parking on certain streets, or certain sides of the streets until the road is plowed from curb to curb.

In California, if you live up in the hills, they have a parking ban on days in which there are "red flag warnings" meaning, the risk of fire is substantially increased.

The moral of the story is that one cannot park on the street in the winter in either place!

1. True dat, my dear KitchenWitch!
At least you're used to not being able to park on the street in the winter already!

AND there's no snow!

Welcome to *ahem* sunny SoCal! You have never experienced a winter like the one you're about to!

4. Which is exactly why no one should move from MN to CA!
(If you tried to find any tangible logic in that statement, you wasted your time.)

9. It's a very silly place
I moved to CA from Vermont and I get such a kick out of this place. Everyone, every year, forgets how to drive in the rain. IT'S RAIN, PEOPLE! Not snow, not ice, not sleet. Rain!

Also, the power goes out at the drop of a hat. In 38 years in Vermont, living in very rural areas (even by Vermont standards) I never lost power for more than a couple of days and that only in the worst of blizzards. Here, you get a sprinkle, the power's out. And it's liable to be out for a week and a half. Cracks me up.

It sure is pretty, though. And the people are fun. :hi:

12. Flood, Fire, Earthquake and Riot- seasons in California
Flood is December 1st to May 1st,
Riot is May 1st to May 1st.
Earthquake is what you call spring or fall
Fire is June 1st till the first hard rain. Sometimes January in SoCal.

But right now I can get fresh greens, mandarin oranges, persimmons and apples at farmers market. Minnesota's got canned and imported.

Just don't try to park in San Francisco or walk in LA.

14. Try a Fuyu. Crispy cinnomony, apple kinda flavor.
they are the ones that look flat.

The Hachiya's are pointy on the end and have to be frozen before you eat them. The texture of the ripe Hachiya's internal flesh is reminiscent of...um...something naughty.
