Sucky coffee alert CODE RED: Millstone Cinnamon Gingerbread Coffee |
|
:puke: Make that Terror Alert Code Red... :yoiks: I usually buy Fair Trade coffee and still have some Gevalia Pumpkin Spice coffee (which is delicious!), but of course I couldn't resist buying what sounded like a yummy coffee. Man, was I disappointed. :( There is little to no taste of "cinnamon gingerbread", but what's supposed to pass for that flavor ends up tasting like soap. I'm not giving in to that impulse EVER AGAIN.

4. I think flavored coffees are too strong |
|
When I'm especially wealthy I buy the syrup and add the flavor. When I'm poor I do the flavored creamer. When I'm super poor, I do without the added flavor and go with canned milk and sugar. The only thing I will pay extra for is raw sugar. I simply can't go back to regular sugar - raw is so much tastier.
I would love to buy Fair Trade coffee but I just can't make myself pay that much. Not on a regular basis.
I wish all those righteous-type products were priced for poor people like me.

10. I have a sweet tooth for only one thing |
|
Coffee.
My mother drank it black-no sugar. The woman was retentive about her coffee. She could tell when it had sat on the store shelf for too long. I guess, by adding cream and sugar I'm being a rebel.
Believe me. I've had my share of fine coffees. I was yanking down espresso levers when most of today's hipsters were in diapers. I can froth milk like nobody's business.

I avoid anything that claims to combine the taste of the two.
As most people know, I love my pumpkin spice lattes and eggnog lattes from Starbucks, but the gingerbread latte is nothing less than vile.

Here's a handy tip:
Don't buy a whole pound can of flavored coffee. Buy a pound of regular coffee and add one or two of those little sample packs of flavored coffee. It's cheaper and the taste is nice and subtle.
I am evil and proud. :)

54. Do you know how flavored coffee is made? |
|
I found out after I toured a local coffee roaster's plant in Portland.
They take a kettle of fresh roasted coffee beans and doctor them with Stuff that comes out of a can that looks as if it belongs on the shelf of a gas station. In other words--petroleum products, I'm sure of it.
They'll probably find out that the stuff is carcinogenic, just like that other petroleum product, saccharine.

55. Iflavored coffee....ugh. with only one exception: Cinnamon Roast |
|
which has just been roasted with cinnamon and no added sugar or other junk.
That is some nice stuff, cinnamon and coffee were made for each other anyway.
I have been known to put a bit of cinnamon in the brew basket from time to time.
Since I do not care for sweet coffee none of the highly flavored brews appeal to me at all. blech
