What tv show do wish was still on the air today?
I'm not talking about re-runs of old episodes, but still producing new episodes and new seasons. For me, I wish that Arrested Development and Mr. Show were still on tv. How about you? And good morning! :hi:

11. Gilmore Girls
Yeah, I know it's still on, but trust me, that show is a mere shadow of its former self. It used to be brilliant--fast-paced, funny, well-rounded characters, GREAT scripts. But same old thing, just like with Moonlighting and Northern Exposure--once you push out the people who created the show, it goes to shit. And GG is now SHIT.

It has really gone downhill. A friend of mine says that a TV always jumps the shark when its characters start acting in ways that are out of character. And that started last season on this show.

and the Justice League ones, but thank heavens, they got them on dvd sets, which I have them all...season III of JLU comes out next year I believe...The shows, from a comic nerd standpoint(me)...the shows were great, a little tweaking here and there(especially Jon Jonzz), but the tweaking was good...JLU utilized a lot of the lesser known hereo's, like Green Arrow, Black Canary, etc etc...I should write Bruce Timm a letter, and beg him to start again!

The lads had started to repeat themselves after only three seasons — prompting Cleese to leave the show, in fact — and did only six episodes in the fourth and final season. They knew when to quit.

Although it would be interesting to see what they'd do now.

:( Cuz I'm still watching this year's new episodes here in Indiana. I think we only missed like 4 episodes. I can't believe they're scrapping the show!!! It's awesome!!!! arrrggh!!!

Well, I guess Dead Like Me is at the top of my list, and then to add to the list...

Babalon 5
Babalon 5: Crusade
Star Trek: DS9

I'm sure if I thought long and hard I could come up with more... the day they stop making Law and Order: SVU and Criminal Intent ...I'll be upset.. I love watching those two... and I'd really like SciFi to put up some more decent SciFi programs...ahh well..

Sure it's a war story about soldiers, but the civilians are all cowards and buffoons. Somebody dies a horribly painful death every few seconds, and no one even blinks.

247. Hmm..I didn't remember thinking that too
but then I was in the military at the time. :)

Oh well, nothings perfect and maybe if it had continued there would've been a little more depth. Or maybe the problem was that the creators didn't know who their target audience should've been.

It's unfortunate that there seems to be a stigma attached to adults watching dramatic cartoons, it's only acceptable for stuff like South Park or Simpsons (Not that I don't enjoy that kind of thing too)

214. jack and bobby was.......
ack & Bobby was a short-lived American television series that aired on the WB Network. It featured two brothers, one of whom was destined to be President of the United States from 2041 to 2049. It was created by Greg Berlanti, as well as by novelist and comic book writer Brad Meltzer and Thomas Schlamme, who directed most of the first four seasons of The West Wing.

The show followed the childhoods of Jack and Bobby (Robert) McCallister as they go to high school and generally mature. Much conflict was generated between them and their mother, Grace, played by Christine Lahti, who was at once domineering and unreliable. Their story was paralleled by a series of interviews with figures associated with the McCallister presidency, which told their own story. Typically, there was a thematic parallel between the event from McCallister's presidency and the event from his childhood.

On May 17, 2005, the WB announced it would not renew Jack & Bobby for a second season.

The series debuted on the Australian broadcasting network ABC on September 25th 200

The plot for the series seems different and intriguing -- the audience knows the future, but not what happens between the present and the future and so you wait for the story to unfold.

I like 7 of 9 just fine. I like T'pau a bit better thats all. I was unaware of any hate aimed her way, folk's would have to be nuts to hate either of them! Perhaps if 7 of 9 had offered up foot massages to the crew while attired in her pajamas folks might have appreciated her more. (T'pau was never above giving a good foot massage, ya know!!!)

152. Futurama, Firefly, Enterprise: All cancelled before their time
Futurama was killed because of Fox politics, and Enterprise was just getting good in the forth season, but Firefly is the one I'd like to see the most because it was never even given a chance. I have one more eipsode to watch on the boxed set, and I'm almost afraid to watch it, because I know I'll want more. I know there's the movie, but that's not the same.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about Battlestar Galactica because of all the talk about it moving to Sunday night because ratings are slipping...

Strange Luck only lasted a season, but the few episodes i caught (bad time-slot for my life) were amazing. Same with Mellinnium... Friday nights were just never good, but when i WAS home, i loved them.

213. The PJs on Fox
The PJs was a joint production of Ron Howard and Eddie Murphy. It was a comedy with Claymation(TM) characters (just like the California Raisins) in highrise high crime public housing projects (thus the name PJs). Everyone in it was black.

It was at least as good as the Simpsons, at their best, if not better. The main character was a dimwitted project maintenance guy named Thurgood Orenthal Stubbs (Talk about three famous black men--oh wow!) I found out somewhere along the line that Levi Stubbs was one of the Four Tops.

The man's wife, Muriel, called him Goody and two little kids followed him around. There was a fat one that ate anything, named Juicy, always yelling "Hey Soopa!" at Thurgood.

There was a crackhead named Smokey who wore a button saying "Lose Weight Now. Ask Me How."

And various other characters. The dialogue was amazing. Thurgood would make exclamations and add famous black peoples' names to them, like "Whitney Houston, we have a problem" and "Holy Moses Malone". Once a ghost talked to him, and said, "I'm an Apparition-American". Just amazing wordplay.

I guess Fox killed it because everybody wasn't squeaky-clean and perfect like the Cosby shows.

218. a couple more -- no decent talk shows
Unsolved Miseries....except that Robert Starch died. Guess the Starch in his underwear that held him up finally failed.

Beyond Belief..with Captain What's-His-Beard Frakes. Told a few stories and at the end it told you whether the story was fact or fiction.

Cosmos (got it on DVD). Brilliant. Mr. Sagan has a new book out called "The Varieties of Scientific Experience", BTW.

Connections, also on PBS.

I, Claudius with John Hurt and Derek Jacobi and Magenta from Rocky Horror.

Notorious Woman, story of George Sand and Fred Chopin.

Lillie, the story of Lillie Langtry.

Various other PBS and Masterpiece Theater things I have forgotten.

Twilight Zone.

Overnight, with Linda Ellerbee on NBC and some guy with curly dark hair and a droopy mustache. Came on at 12:30 am. I was a law student at the time and keeping strange hours.

A Decent Talk show like Dick Cavett, Tom Snyder, even Steve Allen and Jack Paar from my early child hood. Jay and Dave never have any classical or jazz people on their show either. I remember Yo Yo Ma and Beverly Sills and Itzy Perlman performing on The Tonight Show when Johnny Carson was around.

240. I have to admit...
I've never seen it, but I do know of it. I don't think the network advertised the show very well....

227. Farscape, Firefly and yes
Star Trek: Enterprise

It had faults but it also had merits and I think a lot of potential. Of course it could just as easily caused more harm to the name of "Star Trek" if it kept going so I'm not as firm in my liking the idea of that still continuing as I am with Farscape and Firefly.

241. Good sci-fi picks.
I was kind of surprised that Farscape wasn't more often mentioned above. It's true what you said about ST:E.

228. If "Gunsmoke" were still on the air it would be in its 51st season
and Matt Dillon would be 82 years old and the only one still around. Doc is dead, Kitty is dead, Chester just died, Festus is dead. Oh, Newley is still alive. He and Newley could still keep the citizens safe in Dodge City.

OK, so not a classic.

A show ABC had on a couple of years ago. I'm not usually into mafia stuff, but I found it compelling to watch.

260. Only Two
The West Wing: One because I want to be CJ whenever it is I decide to grow up. Also because it is such a wonderful show and I swear someday I shall wake up and Jed Bartlet will be President of the United States and all shall be well *grins*

Firefly: Why oh why did this show not get a decent chance for it twas an awesome show. I'm a huge Buffy fan as well but I actually think I loved Firefly more and there were things I really would have liked to have seen explored that we viewers never got the chance to see.

262. Kids in the Hall! Kids in the Hall!
I only have two more seasons (just finishing season 3 on DVD) to buy then it's bye bye forever.

Still saving my life decades later. Just something about somebody looking at the world as weirdly as you. Not alone, not alone.

(Arrested Development is the only other TV show I ever bought and is extremely funny for a set show-probably the best ensemble show ever done-since we all know Seinfeld is now a no-no,(how can I EVER look at Kramer again-and I'm serious here, now that I really think about it-that show is DATED, old, no longer in the groove- which reminds me-Curb your Enthusiasm is funny but sometimes, just sometimes it makes me nervous-the Lar goes too far..it jumps the nervous shark)

Six feet under-best drama this century- but it had to end. Just watched the opening-it starts with "I'll be home for Christmas..." Death is always waiting.

And Homicide life on the street-my favorite COP show of all time ever ever I loved those characters, it was also always about the characters and the real things in life.

St. Elsewhere was the best hospital show ever too. Gray's Anatomy is poo in comparsion.

China Beach!

SEE mostly good TV was the last century, people. TAKE me back.
