What's for dinner?
Mine's in the microwave but it's going to take 15 minutes and I'm starving. Keep me away from the vending machines.

"Mom, what's for lunch?"

"Go have some of that leftover spaghetti."

"Awww...but I don't like leftovers."

Little do they know...if they don't eat it for lunch on Saturday, they'll wind up having it for dinner on Sunday.

You'd think they'd have it figured out by now, wouldn't you?

82. It's a bodybuilding trick
You eat 6-8 small meals a day instead of eating 3 big meals a day. That way your body won't go into starvation mode and hold on to everything you do eventually eat as fat. It's a proven method, I have lost weight doing it before, but I gained it back when I picked up the bottle! x(

you can have the salmon. I loathe the stuff. Never was too crazy about it, and then my family took a trip to Norway to visit relatives when I was 16.

Everyone. served. us. salmon.

Two weeks of it.

Every night.

And my mother told me I had to have seconds whenever they were offered or else it was rude. Thirty years later, it still haunts me.

If I never see another salmon again as long as I live, it'll be too soon.

58. Basically, conventional pork comes from pigs who
spend their whole lives in tiny stalls, pumped full of antibiotics to keep them from getting sick in the crowded conditions, and as intelligent animals, they literally go crazy from boredom and stress.

Fortunately, my food co-op sells pasture-raised, drug-free, hormone-free pork, and it's delicious.

I like to keep some of that on hand for a tasty, fairly quick meal when I either don't have the time or inclination to actually make something.

I've had a busy week, and need to go to the grocery. And make rice... I should make a nice big pot of soup, since we're having winter.

70. oh
see, I don't really know why I like linguine over spaghetti, but that makse sense, so maybe that's why.

mmm - heart attack-on-a-plate - YUM!!!

1/4 lb. sweet butter, melted
1 C heavy cream, warmed
3/4 C Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
Salt, to taste
1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper

mix all together, heat low until smooth and creamy

I think I might use less cream than that though?

I only made manicotti once, a long time ago. It said I didn't have to cook it first, so I didn't, and it was a PITA stuffing the tubes; they kept breaking...

hmm, manicotti? should I give it another try, and maybe cook it first? The shells stuff pretty well..

I typicaly cook for one, so shells are easier, I only have to make as many as I think I will want, and maybe enough for left-overs a day or two later. Extra sauce freezes easily, and well.

Lasagne, I make too much of, though I finally figured out I could use a 8 x 8 dish, and didn't have to make so much... :eyes: The noodles don't fit in that size dish as well though, so solving one problem creates a different problem. I should get adventurous and make lasagne noodles from scratch - I do have a Kitchen-Aid thing with all the attachments. :)

84. I'm sort of thinking
make the dough, roll it out, and cut it into three 8 x 8 sheets.

I did try to make lasagne noodles with the pasta roller thing on my Kitchen-Aid, when I first bought it. I made a dash to the grocery for lasagne noodles, since I already had the sauce and everything else ready to go. :eyes: :( :grr:

46. Split pea soup with ham and lime/cumin coleslaw.
Some nights I just don't feel like doing any serious cooking. This is one of them.

49. Stuffed green bell peppers - my first time!!
I just put them in the oven - two big bell peppers stuffed with cooked rice, burger, Italian seasonings, onion, garlic, celery, a bit of zucchini, and some spaghetti sauce I had in the freezer.
I hope in an hour I have a good dinner!

87. There ya go.
My second-oldest didn't like meatloaf. When he was little, he'd do just about anything to avoid having to eat it.

So I stopped calling it meatloaf and told him we were having 'hamburger roast'.

He liked hamburger roast. He'd ask for seconds.

I finally broke the news to him when he was -- fourteen?

I wasn't very fond of meatloaf as a child either. But we never had hamburger roast, so I don't know if I would've liked it any better...

92. I had leftover home made bean soup
pinto beans, cauliflower (yep! O.G. too!), onion, garlic, shallots, celery, green pepper. Flavored with worchestershire, stevia leaf (crushed), O.G. italian seasoning, and Emeril's Southwest Essence and his Original Essence. Little balsalmic vinegar.

It's killer, and as you bean-soup cookers know, even better the second time around!

Melted butter / brewers yeast / O.G. cayenne in bowl. (Oh, some cayenne in the pot, too.)

Forgot the zucchini!

Steamed asparagus, w/butter and lemon juice!

New little white rose potatoes, boiled in the microwave.....

A wedge of very dark chocolate for dessert....:9
