Females and Durags
Does anyone at DU know any females who wear durags and are not lesbians. I am not trying to insult anyone I am just asking a question? I am mainly trying to find out if it is considered okay for a female to wear a durag.

2. Is that the correct spelling? Not saying it isn't.
I always thought it was doo rags.

Well, either they are a lesbian, or they aren't aware that it makes people assume they are lesbian.:hide:
Same goes for the fe-mullet.

you want to wear a durag, but you don't want people to think you are a lesbian? Is that it?

25. No
Actually, I was trying to do just what the question asked. I was trying to find out if women who were not lesbians wore durags. There are some women out there that wear durags and some people think they are lesbians. Instead of jumping to conclusions I decided to ask if people knew of any women who wore them that were not lesbians. To a degree my desire to not be flamed for asking my question may have caused me to ask the question too timidly.

I don't know of any women, besides in ad campaigns, that wear them, but if I saw one on the street I wouldn't know if she was gay or not, and I probably wouldn't ask a woman in a durag about her sexuality.

I have seen heterosexual women wearing durags. I have seen lesbians wearing durags. If somebody thinks someone is a lesbian, because she is wearing a durag, that somebody is an idiot.

You and I are soooo much alike. This week my husband, as much as I've been complaining about him, has taken over getting kids ready and on the the bus in the morning. The only reason I hauled my lazy ass out of bed at 10:30 this morning was because my youngest's speech teacher was coming and I had to make the house look halfway presentable. I would stay in bed all day if I could. Depression sucks.

No, my buddy is becoming too attached to me again. He asked me to send him pictures of myself when I was younger, and then spent the Thanksgiving weekend emailing me to tell me how beautiful I was, and that I have apparently sipped from the fountain of youth, etc. He's also become territorial when we head out. So... I'm giving it a break.

by the total hip-ness  I've seen in the local watering holes here in Bangor. A few weeks ago some dude showed up in the baggy pants (fashion-wise, the crotch is starting to droop again) a muscle-shirt, one of those d-caps from this thread, and then a hooded sweatshirt, worn with the hood over the head. In the bar. Two bits of headgear. A few days later I saw a similar outfit on a Gap commercial. We must be just a bit more progressive up here than you rednecks are down there! :P

39. So, if a "lesbian" wears something, then it's not okay for a "female" to wear it?
I'm just asking because that's what it sounds like you're asking. Since I'm a lesbian who may wear anything from cargo shorts & polo shirt from the boys dept at Abercombie kids to a black cocktail dress & stilettos, depending on the occaision, I must ask...

Is there nothing safe for the heterosexual woman to wear anymore? Dear God, whatever shall the straight women wear?

Guess what? Lesbians and straight women wear the same exact fucking clothes. We don't all have uniforms.

your "Durag," you don't have to worry about whether you've turned to "lesbianism."

Incidentally, who cares whether people think you might be a lesbian by the way you dress?

I didn't realize there was a lesbian dress code, but I would say wear what you want.

I don't go to baseball games all worried that other gay guys are going to think I'm straight because I wear my San Francisco Giants jersey and not tight cut offs.

I wear what I want.
