Sigh, first call to parents about cheating for this school year...
Two days ago I gave my end of the marking period exam--two young women, both of whom have mid80s averages, decided to sink their grade by cheating. I witnessed it, 3 other students witnessed it, and yet they both still denied it. I had to call home, explain to the parents the academic dishonesty policy, and then write them up for the infraction (which will stick with them until the end of high school.). This next period both will be called to the office and told that they just screwed up royally.

I always hate this part of the job--it'll be very interesting to see how they act in class today. Sometimes kids decide to blame the teacher for these kinds of things and show their annoyance by shutting down completely. I'm hoping these ladies go the opposite route and try to prove they can do the work.

Always a fun start to a Friday.
