Are you watching the theater release or the directors cut version?

The directors cut flows a lot better, IMO.

5. I just ordered the soundtrack and the DVD Director's cut
because a commercial for a video game keeps playing the song Mad World from that movie. I've seen it before, it's worth seeing again.

9. My new favorite movie!
Normally when I watch a movie I will just be "along for the ride" so to speak. I don't like watching movies because I canNOT keep plot points in my head. But this is the first movie I've ever seen where I remembered seemingly minor, yet crucial plot points. The first time I watched it (which was quite recent, only a few months ago) my brain was going the proverbial million miles an hour: "What just happened? Why did he do that? How does Plot Point A relate to Plot Point B? Why did nobody tell me Jake Gyllenhaal was so hot? What's up with the giant demon rabbit? Oh, I get it, if he hadn't done X, then Y would never have happened, and consequently Z wouldn't have happened as well. THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER." I WILL be a sobbing mess during the last 15 minutes of it, and I can't listen to Gary Jules' version of "Mad World" for at least three days afterward without tearing up. I don't have it on DVD yet though. Also, freakin' awesome soundtrack.

"Okay. First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy, in order to destroy the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, that could never have happened. Smurfs are asexual; they don't even have reproductive organs under those little, white--pants. That's what's so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. I mean what's the point of living if you don't have a dick?"
"Dammit, Donnie, why'd you have to get so smart on us?"

21. I had to go out and purchase the Gary Jules CD
just for Mad World. I never tire of it and the rest of the CD is great too. Produced the entire CD in someones apartment. Haven't seen Donnie Darko, yet. Maybe this weekend....it's going to be cold and miserable.

15. You blasphemer!
Kidding. I'm a total Tears for Fears nut. I didn't think it was possible to make that song anymore depressing than it already is-but I think he did it!

18. Now now, don't get me wrong...
The Tears version was good too, but I can't listen to the later one without getting choked up. Have you seen the commercial for some new video game about future war or something like that? They are using that song during the commercial. It makes an otherwise dumb commercial really intriguing.

25. You're right, it does.
Everytime it comes on I stop what I'm doing to watch. But I couldn't tell you what the game was! Who sings the pther version?

26. Is it bad that...
..I know the game in the commercial is "Gears of War"?

And Tears for Fears did the original version. I have both versions on my computer--my stepbrother burned me a copy of the soundtrack, but he burned it in such a way that I couldn't listen to it in a regular CD player, but had to rip the songs from the CD to the computer. Anyway, I prefer the Gary Jules version. It's one of those songs that when I start singing it, I MUST sing the entire thing and can't stop until it's finished.

16. The first time I saw that film...
it was on cable starting at midnight. I'm not usually up that late, but I was bored and I had heard it was a good movie. So I figured I'd watch the first five minutes, find a flaw in it then go to bed. Well, at 2 a.m. or so after having stayed up through the whole movie I finallly went to bed. And I was lying in bed for another half hour or so thinking profound thoughts, when all of a sudden there was a tremendous explosion outside, shaking the bed and setting off car alarms all over the neighborhood. It really freaked me out.

19. Umm, yeah...
I certainly would have loaded my pants if that happened, especially given the subject matter of the film just viewed... Freaky stuff. What caused the boomage? Ever find out?

20. It was a mystery.
The was actually an article in the local paper a couple of days later, because it had woken up everybody in the area. The story said it was thunder. Just a single bolt of lightning. I don't believe that because there wasn't any flash, and it woke to many people up, and I've never heard just one bolt of lightning during the storm, or of a newspaper covering such a thing. The other theory is that it was a sonic boom, perhaps from a meteor. I suspect that's closer to the truth.

24. This movie gave me a new appreciation for Tears for Fears
I hated that group at the time they were popular, as they were very overplayed. But this movie gave me a whole new perspective on them. Tears for Fears was terrific in the time that they were hot, and the Donnie Darko movie showcases that perfectly.

Donnie Darko is a difficult, depressing film, but it's amazing. I've seen it twice, and it's given me nightmares for a week each time. When a movie sticks with you like that, you know it's golden.
