3. Just playing 'Made you look' for a laugh by all
Somewhat Political, but mostly just for fun.

C'mon you needed a laugh and you know it!

2. Ugh. Tom Sawyers a cool song but i am not fond of them
My brother liked one and only band when we were in highscool. And that bands name was Rush. I got sick of them fast.

I was into The Smiths and New Order.

17. Yay Smiths. New Order I got sick of rather quickly.
Saw them with PIL and the Sugercubes though.

6. You're kidding.
Geddy Lee's voice makes me want to kill myself. It's a shame, because I hear that Lee and Peart are truly amazing musicians. I'm a drummer, so I'm always interested in learning from the style of a master, but I just can't stand to listen to it. I'm more of a Led Zeppelin man myself. John Bonham is the greatest drummer ever. There can be no other. Not that I'm a fan of Robert Plant's voice either. But you just can't beat songs like Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Dazed and Confused, and Since I've Been Loving You.

7. No argument here...
Rush is one of the things that brought my wife and I together, oddly enough. :)

My opinion is that the people who don't like Rush are intellectually challenged... Plenty of preppies and cheerleaders who didn't get the highbrow prog-rock stuff at all. WAY above their heads.

Greatest band of all time! Best drummer, bar none, incredible base player, and greatly underrated guitarist.

Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 02:20 PM by EOO
Oh wait, Dream Theater is five great musicians who suck as a band (don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the band, though).

16. True that!
Awesome band. Seen them 3 times - and mr liberty is so jealous because he hasn't, and they're his favorite band.

And Neal Peart rides BMW motorcycles, too - proof of his superior intellect!

Not necessarily the greatest though. I seen the 2112 tour and the Farewell to Kings tour. I think I own one CD of theirs plus a couple of vinyls.

They weren't ever a band I would Rush out and buy their newest stuff for.

21. hah! My brother's email addy is RushFan
He means the band but everyone assumes it's that Fat Bastard Limbaugh.

And in a really weird coincidence, I just heard New World Man on the radio just before I logged on DU. It must be a conspiracy.

22. all wannabe musician hacks today must be made to listen to them!
love'em or hate'em you cant deny their importance in rock music. you don't maintain a consistent big draw for 30 years by sucking.

but now when I hear them, I rock out somethin' fierce. :D

so definitely am going to be buying some of their music soon

I think it took learning a bit on the bass to truly appreciate Rush. I don't think I could ever play like that.
