My 6 year old is taking stuff from around the house and wrapping them up |
|
and putting them under the tree. If I'm missing something, I think I know where to look.

1. That's funny. When my little guy was 6 or 7, he looked at the stockings and saw that mine |
|
was empty (Mrs R had forgotten to put the stuff for me into it), and he went upstairs, got one of his Matchbox cars, wrapped it in some construction paper, and put it in the stocking for me.
I happened to have set up the video camera on a tripod and turned it on just before that, so I have it on tape. I will NEVER forget the sight of him noticing that the stocking was empty, saying "that's not good," and taking off up the stairs.
Kids are great.

3. How are you this evening, m'dear? I suspect that with five kids, you've had |
|
your share of those moments.
(If, of course, I am correct in seeming to remember that you have five kids.)

and so's your memory.
Yup...but those are the moments that make some of the...shall we say, 'less charming' ones worthwhile.
How lucky that you got that on tape. I never have a camera handy when I want one. I've missed some doozies.

4. My 6 Year Old Is Looking At Maps |
|
and obsessed with maps
has been for years off and on
lately he is also learning to use the computer better, soon he will be more tech savvy than me I'm sure.
They grow up too fast
That is cute that they are wrapping up stuff and putting it under the tree

7. That's great. I actually will sit and read a map like reading a book, so your kid |
|
and I would get along well.
Maybe there's something wrong with me, but it REALLY bothers me when I see someone who can't read a map.

8. You And He Would Get Along Great |
|
he can tell a person which highway to take to get to a city (on a limited basis with maps he knows well, like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, since his family lives primarily in those states, he is well versed in those maps
When he was 3 he had a leap frog electronic map that would tell you the state and it's capital. He memorized all 50 states and capitals. He has since forgotten that he knows them all, but that really stuck out in my mind that he has a great memory, and is very inquisitive. (a little obsessive, but he comes by that honestly)

9. I believe that EVERYONE should be able to identify all the states from an outline map. |
|
Why? Damn if I know, but I've made sure that both of my kids can. We all have our quirks.
And yes, I bet your kid and I could spend many happy hours together. You wouldn't believe how many maps I have.

12. We Have Quite A Collection Going Ourselves |
|
and I totally agree with you about the identifying states
it is a shame that there are so many people who can't
I'm sure my son won't be one of them

18. Well, yes, I suppose the thought is sweet, but in practice it's frustrating. |
|
Kind of like when my oldest learned to pick up and throw away garbage, which eventually included my TV remote.

It was very cute at first, but after using three rolls of scotch tape, it got real old. :)

:) My son has been making all sorts of Christmas decorations. He is very big on them this year. He plastered the house in halloween decorations.
