Toy breed dog owners....what are you feeding your pups?
I have Chihuahuas. I want to feed them the best food possible. There are so many food options for dogs I don't know what is the best. Can you tell me what you feed your pups and why?

1. We feed Merrick to our IG
We switch between the Turducken and Cowboy Cookout dry and add a big spoon of some Merrick wet.
The turducken, pot pie, wingding dinners all have chunks of solid chicken.

4. I've been tempted
The wingding dinner has a whole wing in it. Not sure what they do but the bones are soft enough they have no problems munching them up.

Check Whole Dog Journal. They do an annual review of wet and dry foods.

13. Her coat is okay. Not silky smooth, but I don't think they're supposed
to be silky smooth. I like this food because it does not give her gas. Some of the other kinds I've tried lead to really nasty gas. Pee yoo!

16. A tablespoon of cottage cheese, active yogurt
or a little buttermilk 2 or 3 times a week takes care of even the nastiest gas.

17. I had my Chis on Science Diet for a while. One of my Chis coat nearly
fell completely off. His coat is a lot better on RC but Royal Canin gives another of my Chis serious gas.

OH MY GAWD...4.5 lbs and his gas can clear a room.

7. My wife works part time at a vet clinic; this is the ONLY food that she
will feed our jack russel/mix---Scout weighs about 10 pounds:

Scout eats the lamb, as do other terriers that we know...and her coat is gorgeous.

You can get it at health food stores, co-ops, etc. It's not expensive when they are so little---we spend about 7 bucks on dog food a month for her.

11. I used to feed my Chihuahua's Solid Gold. IT worked WONDERS with
my pups coat when he was young. He got sick and I couldn't get him to eat it after that. I may go back to it.

8. chihuahua food
I have a chihuahua, a border terrier, and a brussels griffon. They all eat Royal Canin Chihuahua 28. It helps them have fewer and less smelly bowel movements. It has also improved all of their coats. They free feed from the same bowl and have kept in good condition (not fat or thin).

9. I'm feedin my chi's RC now. The breeder I talked to today said it was crap.
She's got champions in her pack. I thought RC was good. That's why I have my pups on it. The breeder said she's feeding dog chow lamb and rice. I didn't see her adults though.

12. Natural Balance
http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/

The dogs like it. It appears and smells much less disgusting than most dog foods. They usually get the dry food, but we buy the tubes and cut them up for treats.
