The Power of Words.......

It has been said many times, and by those more skilled than I.....

Just how much influence the written word can have upon another person...

Without ever hearing the writer's voice, or seeing his face, or anything...

You can be moved to tears, to laughter, to incredible insight...

You can find yourself falling in love....

Or getting ready to go to war......

Or finding new resolve within yourself for a deed that you thought impossible.......

And it can all happen because someone took the time to notice you, to speak to you...

It has happened to me, right here..........

And I am a much better woman for it.........

I wish the same for all of you.......

Words are symbols of our humanity. They come in different shapes and sizes, but each syllable conducts a precise power that only one person can give to another. That power can be ultimately damning, or can be heartening and uplifting.

I heard somewhere in my coursework a story about Hitler when he allegedly was captured by Allied forces. One of the soldiers told the other: "Once you get near him, cover his mouth so he can't speak!"
