I have strung up so many christmas lights my house must be visible from space. I know its a little excessive but my daughter,Grace, is six years old and at the prefect age to get the most out of all christmas decorations. She goes wide-eyed and just says something like "wow". Its enough to make dad run down to K-mart and buy another string. I strung 'em from the gutters. I've got 'em on the shrubbery. The mailbox is blinking like a airport runway. I put some of them rope-type lights, wound them around the tree trunks.I put the big bulb type on every bush I see, and I've got Santa on the roof, and candles in every window.I know its silly, but it feels great. They click on at dusk and click themselves off 6 hours later.
I spent about $50 on lights at K-mart and about $35 more on cords and connectors at the Ace Hardware.
the look on her little face.... priceless!

|
when i am decorating for christmas -- and take my enthusiasm and drive the workers at the local hardware store NUTS.
there is simply no such thing as too many christmas lights.
or glitter.
or candles.
or holly and mistletoe.
or ornaments.
or wreaths. wreaths EVERYWHERE!
it's wonderland, baby!
p.s. apparently it's very important to have the supremes playing very loudly while decorating --

I would do something like that. I have a lot of fun with the excesses of the holiday season. But not "normal" fun.
Like I think it would be a blast to fill my yard with contingents of plastic light-up snowmen and Santas and Joesphs and candles and wise men and angels and Jesus' and what have you, and maybe play a life-size game of chess with them, or arrange them into football formations, or just odd small groupings like at an outdoor party and then I could put up a disco ball and glue cocktail glasses in their hands...
Heh heh heh.
