I hate bowling

and some friends of mine want to take the kids bowling today. 3 couples and 5 kids. The guy who initiated this thing is black and I told him he is whiter than I am for wanting to bowl. Add to that it's Sunday afternoon and football is on.

Sometimes I think they try to find things to do to just piss me off, but then I realize that I hate just about everything. :)

24. It can be a blast if you don't take it seriously

I was on a team with a couple of friends of mine many years ago when we were all working retail. Other people in the league we were in hated bowling against us because we were constantly cutting up, cracking jokes, and generally making asses of ourselves (in a completely good-natured way, of course). We didn't care--we knew we weren't the best bowlers so we just set out to have as much fun as humanly possible. It was even more fun when we bowled against people who wanted to have as good a time as we were having.

Obviously I have a lot of fond memories of those times. :)

28. Yeah, that's my problem

Last time I bowled — it's been like four years, maybe five — it was with The Gang, just havin' fun. When I bowled regularly, years earlier, I had like a 150 average — not sucky, but hardly great. But I couldn't forgive myself for not instantly finding the old groove. I think I bowled something like 113 that day, and I was just pissed.

We went and there were these two guys a couple lanes down from us and DAMN!!!!

They were freakin' good bowlers! I haven't bowled in like 8 years or something like that (because as I think I've stated, I hate bowling).

Anyway, we had three lanes and the kids were playing with the bumpers up and making noise and stuff. One of the guys comes over to us and asks us if we could maybe step down and keep it quiet because his friend was in the 10th frame and had a PERFECT GAME going!

We were all in awe, of course. I knew they were good from just looking over there a few times, but a perfect game?

(I actually watched them for a few tips, like how many steps to take, which foot to start off with, etc. that's how bad a bowler I am)

So the guy gets a strike in the 10th, then another strike. Wow, one more and a perfect game. He had a small crowd now, all watching.

Last ball. He leaves 2 and final score, 298. :(
