I just watched An Inconvenient Truth |
|
I really liked it until I started reading the reviews on amazon and realized a couple things:
Even if there is global warming god will take care of it "Remember that you can't control other people's pollution, but take comfort in knowing that there is a Power much greater than ours, and that is the Creator of this world." *whew* that's a load off my mind
The movie is also just a pretext to take away our guns!!ll! " They also want Global taxes and to take away the "right to bear arms" in the USA. Why are they so anxious to take away the guns of law abiding citizens? YOU TELL ME......" I knew this was all just a big conspiracy by scientest worldwide to take away American's guns.
:puke: The large majority of reviews are overwhelmingly positive but it's pretty funny to read the republican attempts to discredit it.
If you haven't seen the movie I definitely recommend it.

God did it to punish the gays and the sinners, and that was just an added bonus--God gave the repubs and excuse to blame the liberals. Ha ha (not).

I was a good girl last night. Really. (boringly). Think I've had my fill since last weekend. I'm just all excited about the car I get to buy in about two weeks. Freedom! And you?

Nah, seriously, I have several models in mind, am just affirming that the right car will be made available. Kind of a sedan-ish car would be good. The car I had that husband wrecked was inherited from my mother. It's kinda old-personish; but nice, and I had poo-pooed it until he was in the crash. 75 mph and he walked away, unhurt, and the car is actually salvagable. I may decide to take the money and fix it instead, but probably not. I am singing the praises of that brand now, that's for sure.

IN fact, some have accused Gore of being too optimistic.
I hope Gore is right however..

I also loved this movie! Loved Gore's big graphs.
I'm going to add a couple copies to my perpetual cart at Amazon to give as Christmas gifts to friends that haven't seen it.

13. After seeing that great film if you don't believe global warming is a serious problem... |
|
then you're brain damaged. Period.
Al Gore does such an amazing, powerful job of laying out the facts: global warming is here, has been here for a number of years, it's causing some serious consequences which we are already experiencing (I thought the segment about Hurricane Katrina was particularly heartbreaking) and we'd better start addressing this problem NOW. I hope the new Democratic Majority leadership in both the House and Senate has seen this powerful film.

yesterday, but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. The big teevee has been taken over by endless football. Not due back till Thursday, so there's time. Also got The DaVinci Code. (Iknow, I know, but what the heck)

16. Well, it's true that God sends a helping hand to get us through disasters, |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-03-06 02:21 PM by hedgehog
but things don't always work out. For example, during the Great Hunger in Ireland in 1847- 1850, the potatoes all rotted, but God sent bumper crops of wheat, barley , meat, milk, eggs and butter. There was just this small problem of all that food being exported under armed guard past starving people......
Whatever's coming, we can all get through if we work together or we can behave like rats in a bucket.
