If you're a wee bit tired and have things to do, what's the best stimulant
that one can take?

Or should I attempt an hour's sleep and wake up feeling worse?

1. Amphetamines. The only thing I've ever tried that genuinely works.
Not that I'm recommending you take them. Just that they're the only shit I've ever done that works. (Okay, okay, LSD keeps you awake too, but not very good when you've got stuff to do).

Caffeine stops me from falling asleep, but doesn't actually stop me feeling tired. Caffeine is just fucking crap.

6. mmmmmmmmmmmm....
I'm chiming in with Billy here. While I would never recommend crystal meth to anyone, it is the best thing in the world for waking one up and keeping one awake as long as they so desire.

That being said, sleep is better....WAY BETTER! than crystal meth so forget I even suggested it....

17. Then too, you could try a speedball mix of cocaine and methedrine
shot up directly into one's veins after dissolution in dried Coke syrup redissolved in French Roast coffee.

It depends on how tired one actually is.

12. Of all the stimulants I've taken in my life....
...the one that has stayed with me and is the total panacea is coffee.

And I was speeding in the womb, mind you. My mother found out she was pregnant with me soon after she'd given birth to my sister, and was lamenting with the doctor that she'd been trying to lose the pregnancy weight, and now she couldn't. So the doc picked up his scip pad and wrote her a prescription for diet pills, advising her to take them to keep her weight down during pregnancy.

Nice! But this was in 1954, so he probably had a big honking ash tray on his desk as well!!!

Anyway, Hypno, take this from the EXPERT on speedy drugs: caffeine is still the old standby and the best!

As for a natural remedy, a cardio workout will do the trick. But I don't know about you, I would need a latte for motivation!

14. when I worked the graveyard shift - one Dr. Pepper did it
In fact, I had to have it before 1am or I would get the jitters when I had my morning coffee around 7am. That combination would get me through late morning classes and then I could go home and crash.

15. I suffered from chronic insomnia and they suggested a nap of 15 minutes...
...8 hours from when you wake up to feel refreshed. I think longer than that and your body starts going into deeper sleep that would make you tired to try and get up from.

21. coffee
actually i find a 20-30 minute nap works very well in SOME situations, in those situations where you know the nap will just make you feel like someone is sitting on your brain for the rest of the day...coffee, even strong tea will work if you don't regularly use caffeine
