Noel Gallagher: 'Liam is The Icon Of The Nineties'
Usually one for putting the boot in, Noel claims that Liam is the Icon of the last decade and contemporary acts don’t compare.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on mtv, he said: "I guess if you think of the '90s, you think of Liam. I guess he’s probably the biggest icon of the 90s."

I admire his humility in saying that what we all know is right is "probably" true.

Score one for Oasis.

3. We are all familiar with online polls by now.
I am beginning to suspect that the Beatlist propagandists are not just similar to FReepers, but that some of them are actual FReepers as well.

12. I am talking about a segment of Beatlist propagandists.
The ones that the other Beatlist propagandists go up to and say "you are familiar with rigging online polls, could you take care of this living icon survey for us?"

29. So by your "logic", if a Freeper likes the Beatles, the Beatles must then suck?

I wonder how many bands we could apply that to.

I'm sure there's a wacko in Freeperville who loves Oasis. That must mean they suck, too.

It looks like someone spilled coffee on your logic circuits.

37. You seem to have lost track of the original line of rhetoric.
My argument was that there were Beatlist propagandists who are FReepers. The post on Free Republic reads like a press release.

40. So? That doesn't say anything about the Beatles themselves.
In fact, since all of the Beatles are/were liberal peace-loving vegetarians, it says absolutely nothing, except your "But freepers like the Beatles!!" argument is silly and ridiculous.

The only way Oasis would ever come anywhere near the influence of the Beatles is if you took a poll of the members of Oasis themselves.

Oh, wait, you essentially did that already.

42. It says that they are not the icons that the online polls indicate.
It is possible that FReepers, experienced in rigging online polls, taught Beatlist propagandists how to rig the icon poll.

45. "Beatlist propagandists"??

BTW, a monkey could rig online polls. Heck, you could even do it. ;-)

It is literally one of the easiest Internet tricks to learn.

But only Freepers, and maybe guys who like Oasis a little too much, would be interested in rigging them to the point that a poll "proves" their position is "popular".

5. The bias would actually be against him.
That was what the article says. And despite that, Liam Gallagher is the icon of the 90s. It was obvious for a long time before Noel admitted it.

8. When I think of "the icon of the 90s" I think of Kurt Cobain, and maybe Radiohead.
The fact that your pro-Oasis posts are usually met with derision and sink like a stone should be evidence enough that it isn't, and has never been "obvious" that Gallagher was "the icon of the 90s".

You're passing off YOUR OPINION as fact, which doesn't sit well with me. And just because there's a line in the article mentioning the Gallaghers' constant whiny, petulant, childish fights over stupid shit doesn't mean a member of Oasis, and the brother of the person in question, wouldn't be biased about the influence of Oasis.

Since you love to trash the Beatles in favor of Oasis, let me ask you, how is this any different than John Lennon saying "we're more popular than Jesus now"?

It isn't. But I imagine in your little Oasis-loving bubble (which must be pretty lonely) I'm sure you'll find new and hilarious ways to argue that 2 + 2 = 5.

33. You're kidding, right?
Radiohead's song, which I deliberately referenced, was being ironic, making an Orwellian reference. From an album called "Hail to the Thief", no less.

Do you not get irony, or did you forget this?

6. Was he shite, they are both big mummies boys.
Witness their claim that they were 'right bad lads' in the press then their mum came out with the truth. Not only were they very well behaved when younger(and there's nothing wrong with that), she would have skinned them alive if they had done half the stuff they claimed.

You want sex and drugs and rock and roll? Happy Mondays are still the iconic band.

25. The Spice Girls were the Icon of the Nineties .... here is proof!
http://www.icons.org.uk/news/icons-in-the-news/spice-girls-top-icon-poll

Nineties icons poll puts Spice Girls on top

Nineties pop group, The Spice Girls have topped a cultural icons poll to identify the most popular stars of the decade. The poll was organised by Contactmusic.com, who say that the group got 80% of votes cast. Elizabeth Hurley - famed because of her safety pin dress worn to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral - was also mentioned.

(see? Proof!)

38. Liam spelled backwards is :"mail", Noel is "Leon"
Pretty sensible if you ask me.

But check out these backward spellings:

Paul: "luap"
John: "nhoj"
George: "egroeg"
Ringo: "ognir"

That shit makes no damn sense.
