1. Its like a reminder ... |

when I think I am messed up in the head sometimes I just have to watch that and then I snap out of it lol. My life is lollipops and sugar roses compared to what I see on there.

3. that's a good way of putting it |

Sadly, the show's issue tonight (alcoholism) his a little too close to home-- both parents are alcoholics and it was scary how the documentary's woman reminded me of my mom :(

It's one of my favorite ways to close out the weekend. It definitely can be a downer, though.

I worked in treatment centers for a number of years, and participated in some interventions. I do think interventions are good, as are treatment centers, but I just can't watch that show.

5. Just out of curiosity...why not? |

I mean, what do you think is the worst thing about it?
To me, it's a reminder of how long and difficult a battle recovery from addiction is (and how low the long-term success rate is).

6. Because it hits too close to what I used to do. |

Don't get me wrong -- I understand that recovery from additions IS a difficult struggle (and the success rate is low). There were just some things that happened during the years I was involved in that field that watching that show would reopen feelings about, and I just don't want to go there. Some involved people I dealt with when they were patients, who subsequently relapsed and then died. Some had nothing to do with the patients, but with things that happened at one particular place, related to my co-workers.
