That Toyota commercial has got to be the worst at the moment :puke: It's twice as loud as the show I was watching, and the register in which the woman is singing is way too high. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. Eeeeehh!

Plus they play it far too often. Once I counted, and heard it 5 freakin times in a one hour program. :grr:

What mercial irritates the heck out of you?

1. "Mom, I've made a decision. Now, hear me out."
The military ones that show young people picking these great careers. Remember, however, that Casey Sheehan was an ecumenical minister's assistant.

3. That just made me think of a local one...
A young woman is working in a clothing store when another girl walks in. The worker says to her friend, "oh no, what is SHE doing here? She's always had her life togethor" The customer walks over to the girl working and they strike up a conversation. Turns out the one who 'always had her life togethor' :eyes: is already working in her field as a Medical Assistant. Meanwhile the 'loser' is "still working here (the clothing store) and still has TWO years to go" before she get's her college degree. The medical assistant then touts her tech school and says, "you should call them"

I have absolutely nothing against a 2 year college or a person whose goal is being a medical assistant or some other such trade. If that's what they want, great, go for it! But it's the mercial's implying that somehow the Medical Assistant choose a better route because she is out in the workforce faster is absurd IMO. Maybe an Associate's is perfect for some people, but a BA is not "worse"! Especially just because it takes longer! WTF?

Casey Sheehan is another great example of this foolishness. Thanks.

17. Too bad we can't have publicly funded ads advocating the CO option.
I despise the fact that my tax dollars are being spent that way.

2. All of them.
But especially the caveman commercials. I'm probably the only here that really hates those commercials but  that's the way it is.

9. They don't need to have anything to do with insurance.
The whole goal is to be remembered. And in that, Geico is quite successful!

13. In terms of marketing, they are pure genius.
Everyone knows about them. Now, in terms of sales, I don't know how influential they've been, but I think they're a hoot.

5. The ones I hate most are the local car dealership commercials.
They're positively embarrassing to watch. One dealership owner lives two doors down & IRL he's a jerk of major proportions. He never smiles! On the commercial though he has a big phony grin as he speaks stiffly into the camera. Another family uses its dog to try and entice you to buy their vehicles. "Sandy just LOVES this new Ford Explorer! Doncha girl?" WTF? The presence of a dog in the dealership does nothing to enhance its appeal. Last, there's a local furniture store called "Tuffy's Discount Furniture." It's Maine, so you don't pronounce the last "r". The place recently exchanged hands but for some reason the new owners decided to continue advertising using some poor schmuck dressed in a ratty bear costume (that'd be Tuffy's Discount Bear). I hate that bear like I hate the Pilsbury Dough Boy and the Snuggly Softness Bear. Whoo Hoo! :puke:

11. I almost never like client-voiced commercials.
When I was in radio, I hated having clients come in to record their own spots. It took forever. Most of them were terrible, and so few understood the concept of timing! I just wanted to yell at them sometimes - if you don't want your copy cut down to 30 seconds, you're going to have to buy a longer ad!

6. The IKEA commercial where the kid belches kinda grosses
me out.

I know kids like to belch, but do really need to see that in a furniture ad?

The one I absolutely loathe is the one for Volvo with blathering little kid in the back seat. Shut up and let the guy drive already.
