Have you ever had a two day hangover? |
|
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 10:26 AM by Blue_Roses
I don't usually drink enough to get a hangover, but Saturday night I drank a beer (several) that I don't normally drink and I thought I was gonna die yesterday. I thought I would feel better today and grant it, it is an improvement from yesterday, but I still feel like crap.
Do you find that different types of alcohol affect you differently?

1. Yes, this weekend. I was SOOOO mad at myself. I went to a |
|
party Friday night, stuck to beer until about midnight when I had two shots of Dr. McDougall's somethin-or-other. Oh plus I forgot to eat that day so I had only had some granola and raisins for lunch. I was a mess all day Saturday and only a little bit better Sunday.
My hangovers are more EXTREME guilt that make me depressed rather than feeling really sick.
I think if I had stuck with beer I would have been OK, maybe.

6. Yeah. I know exactly what you mean about the guilt |
|
I hate when I feel this way because I feel so unproductive and sluggish. I didn't eat much either so that's also what contributed to it. Guess what they say about getting older is true--the hangovers DO hurt more than they used to!

10. Yep. I wanted to write my essay for my final this weekend so |
|
I could hand it in early and start Christmas shopping. The only thing that prevented me from being a complete slug is my kids because you still need to do things for them whether you're hungover or not. :-)
I never heard that about hangovers getting worse as you get older.

|
*disclaimer: 2 day or even any hangover at all is a rarity these days, old age and general fogy-ness kicking in :boring:

11. We jokingly refer to Korea as |
|
the Army's "Alcohol Tolerance Immersion Program"
thats what you get when you take a lot of young soldiers away from their families for a year, stick them in a place with lots of free time and cheap and easy access to alcohol.

It all started with a drink called Peter (last name withheld) magic elixir. I should say I never do shots but after a couple of Guinness pints I broke the vow. No one could tell me what was in it but it tasted like Brandy/Whiskey mixture not half bad but...Never again!

Usually after Christmas, Easter etc..I feel like I'm hungover.Headaches, exhaustion..it's from being around my family. I get so stressed that I think my body is just reeling after they leave.

14. Yeah, I've had a couple.... |
|
The first was after my 21st birthday, where I literally drank anything and everything. I actually consumed a bottle of something called "Wild Irish Rose" which is apparently a 2-dollar bottle of a wine-like substance. But hey- I was a poor college student. I spent a couple of days recovering from that.
The 2nd time was on a cruise with my then wife and her family (what EVER was I thinking). We got into a HUGH arguement on the first day and I set out to drown my anger and contempt for her in single malt scotch. Subsequently, I spent the next 2 days unable to keep anything down and developed a case of acid reflux that lasted for a year or so.
I don't think it's the type of liquor, per se. I believe that it's more dependent on what's going on with the rest of your digestive and immune systems. I had a few drinks myself Saturday night and woke up feeling plain awful, but I should have never been to a bar since my sinuses are freaking out with the weather changes. Plus, I splurged on a big lunch and skipped dinner.
Hope you get to feeling better!

16. back in my wasted youth .... but never two days. |
|
I can't get a hangover from beer, it is too dilute for me to do that.
I did too much tequila on my 21st birthday and couldn't smell tequila for years after that without feeling nauseuous. Had some bang-up hangovers back in college days, but never more than a day, and usually not a full day.
A different problem I would also have is waking up the next day still drunk. I would actually have had a full nights sleep, get up in the morning, feel a little strange as I went about my morning stuff, and realize I didn't so much have a hangover as that I was still somewhat high from the booze from the night before. Very bizarre.
These days I only get hangovers from red wine only, so I will drink several glasses of water before bedtime if I think I have had too much.
