Happy Holidays, your paycheck will now be smaller
starting the first of January when your health insurance increases from $200/mo. to $400/mo. No increase in benefits, just doubling the price.

That's just my HUSBAND'S health insurance. (For me to be insured would cost about $500/mo more than we make) We can't afford to let it go or even lapse. He's almost 60 and we'd never get insurance again if we decided to shop elsewhere.

1. Is that the single payer amount?
do you have insurance at your company?

I pay $480/month and it is going up to around $550 at the first of the year...but that is our portion of family coverage.

2. That IS through his company
and it's for him alone. I can't get insurance due to preexisting (serious) conditions. OK, yes, I could if we could afford it but to insure me would cost more than we make a month.

3. that is high for a single rate but somehow it doesn't suprise me
which is really sad....and that is only because insurance rates are just skyrocketing every year and yet the morons in government aren't doing shit.

4. Banging head on desk
We just got notified that our home owner's insurance no longer has a license to sell coverage in SC. So far, we haven't seen anything less than double what we're paying. My husband's going to look some more but that much more in insurance will raise our mortgage payment by about 25%.

So all our insurances are doubling (except car for this year...I've already paid it for the next year) and my husband hasn't had a raise since he started working for these people 3 years ago.
