I downloaded my first Oasis Album. Ask me again in 2 hours if the hype is real
I can't figure out what the deal is with Oasis so I coughed up the $9.99 for (What's the Story) Morning Glory.

If this album sucks then one of you Oasis fans owes me $10

I had to put up with all that fucking shit during the 90s. I already know what Oasis are like.

You should have bought "Parklife" by Blur instead.

6. It was enjoyable but I'm not really feeling a part of the Oasis Bandwagon
However, I'm really digging that new album from My Chemical Romance - "The Black Parade". I really dig concept albums where each song is a progression of a story, sorta like The Who's "Tommy", Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and Green Day's "American Idiot"

12. If you like concept albums, check out Coheed and Cambria
So far, all three of their albums are chapters in a story that will likely span at least 5 albums.

Plus, being a Zep fan, you should appreciate this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAXl06q6uVs

Hell I'll take the Foo Fighters over them - I'm listening to their new live CD and it opens with the most absolutely amazing song I've ever heard in my lifetime with the best guitar work. All acoustic too

I would think that Oasis has hundreds of thousands over the Beatles in online music alone.

"I would think that Oasis has hundreds of thousands over the Beatles in online music alone."

Yes, if "alone" means "in that one category only".

Most Beatles fans just buy their entire albums; they are good enough that people don't need to resort to single-song downloads.

Sometimes I wonder just how serious you are. I think, "no one can be THAT delusional".

15. Oasis has very loyal fans. My brother won
two tickets to see a short acoustic performance by Noel Gallagher in LA a few weeks ago. He couldn't make it, so he put them up on EBay at the last minute and they quickly sold for $275.00. The winner's aol address had "oasis" in it.

28. they put on a hell of a show
saw them at the UCF arena about 8 years ago. Loudest show I've ever heard. They definitely kicked out the jams.

I like them. I think that's one of their better albums. I don't have any of their recent stuff, but have heard a single and it sounds pretty good. I wonder if anybody else has their recent one and thinks its any good?

With indie, we lost good bands that would put on a "Big Rock Star" show.

Oasis plays to/for their fans, and it gets eaten right up.

For albums, though, if I had to pick one, I'd take Masterplan if only because I didn't really appreciate them until that one.

46. New one's pretty good
I didn't like the previous two (although their 2000 album, which was panned, has 2 or 3 really good songs; the rest crap).

Their last one - Don't Believe the Truth - has a couple songs that aren't much to write home about, but overall it's their most consistent album since '95.

It's a lot more laid back though - a bit bluesier, more acoustic-y. There's none of the bombastic guitar solos or anything on their new one.

Lyla was the US single and it's okay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCSPBXQDETo

The Importance of Being Idle is a Kinks-like song and a single in Britain that's GREAT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtihe3NRTjo

If you're looking for another Oasis album after Morning Glory, though, go for Definitely Maybe or The Masterplan (their fantastic b-sides compilation). Those three are essential. If you like those, get the newest one.

I even switched over to a live version on youtube, and am more unimpressed - lead singers who feel the need to have microphones over their heads are idiots, unless their Lemmy, in which case it's allowable because, come on, he's Lemmy; singers who sing while chewing gum are fucking morons.

They sound to me like REM-lite - all the style of REM but none of the substance. And I say that as a person who thinks that REM is an awful band.

45. It's just a long-running Lounge joke
LoZoccolo is an insanely big fan of Oasis and loves to needle people about them.

And they're a band that makes people (esp. from the '90s) get really passionate about b/c the guys in the band were total assholes and because they were the subject of tons of hype from the British press in their heydey. The popped out two very good albums and suddenly had people proclaiming them the new Beatles.

So that and their obnoxiousness turned off a lot of people (esp. in the US, where they were totally out of sync with the whole woe-is-me trend in alternative music and grunge).

Anyway, nobody cares about fights over Oasis anymore, except for Lounge Lizards. It's just a long-running Lounge joke, where LoZo posts some deliberately obnoxious boosterish post about them and people reply with a flamewar.
