My 2 1/2 year-old cat keeps nursing off my shirt...
and if it's a shirt with buttons, I might as well pass my nipple to him (blech! :puke:)

Does anyone else have this problem? And what the hey do you do about it?

1. Our five year old has a "mommy blanket".
She kneads it and suckles on it.

In fact, when she was a tiny, little one, I fell asleep with her on my chest my first night we brought her home. SHe woke me up by biting my nipple!

We think she was taken away from her mommy too early.

3. No advice but suckling behavior usually
comes from being taken away from the mother too soon.

4. Saw a video yesterday somewhere on the Net.
Cat was nursing at this woman's breast. Too big to be an unweaned kitten. Kinda creepy.

7. Comes from being weaned too early.
Here's what the spca says to try to stop it:

Scroll down to "nursing/suckling".

9. I used to have a kitty that did that
Not only was he taken away from mommy too soon but he was obviously the runt, too. Poor little guy was a sweetheart.

10. We had one that did that
We had to lock our bedroom doors at night to hide from him, otherwise you would wake up with a cat sucking on one of your body parts.
He was unrelenting.
We gave him a stuffed teddy bear of his very own to slobber on and lay with.
He seems to be adjusting well because we can leave our doors open now.
Here is a pic of the little sucker.

17. Don't laugh...
An airline gate agent told me that a few years ago they had an incident on an airplane where a woman was breast-feeding her cat (who she apparently carried onto the plane wrapped up like a baby). I don't know what the eventual outcome of this incident was, but I just cringe at the idea of breast-feeding a cat, anywhere. Not only is it weird, it's probably painful.

12. Yep
Boyfriend rescued a kitten that had been dumped at his Mom's farm. She's only 2-3 months old according to the vet. She's a sweetheart, but it's a little odd to wake up to a cat sucking on my neck. We call her vampire kittie now.

15. We had a big, beautiful fluffy orange/white male that did that when I was a kid.
He'd go after my neck or my sister's neck at night. Damn, it hurt, but we let him do it because we loved him. :loveya:

19. My 5 year old Toy Poodle used to nurse a blanket. Now she just nurses when she is asleep. She even
makes little nursing sounds.
