Be afraid...be very, very afraid...
something's amiss. Last night my daughter told me I'm pretty. She just brought me a bowl of sliced melon.

What does she want? I'm afraid.

15. Well, you are, but maybe
it's a sign of her becoming suddenly aware of needing you. Might not last long--she's probably in that frame between clinging to you and needing to create herself, and for the moment she's lucent enough to see that she can do both, or at least needs to not abandon the former need completely. Or maybe she's suddenly afraid of breaking away, and wanting a little of what she's trying to leave. Something like that, anyway.

That's how my cat acts. I have no knowledge of real humans anymore. :)

31. I'd treat it as a sincere desire to be closer to you
until you learn otherwise. I have two daughters, one just a little younger than yours (and who looks a bit similar, from the picture I saw a while back). It would hurt mine a lot to realize that I thought her affections were not legitimate when she expressed them. I usually let the situation develop as it will, even when I do think she is just manipulating me. There are times she's just affectionate. And times she is insecure and needs reassurances that she hasn't destroyed anything with me. So I work from that assumption until she proves otherwise.

59. My daughters started being nice again around
16-17. Feels weird, doesn't it?

Now that they are 20 and (almost) 25, they are a pleasure to be around and have actually
told me how much they appreciate me - especially when they realized what a hard time they gave me for a while there.

I feel for anyone with a daughter between 13 and 15. Those years will put some gray hairs on yer head! ;-)
