Torrent download freak? What are your latest triumphs?
For those who aren't aware, "torrenting" is a relatively new peer-to-peer file downloading technique. If you have a good high speed connection there is almost nothing you can't get.

I've been concentrating on old TV shows and movies lately. To make you jealous, here are a few jems I've succeeded in snagging:

-The entire Airwolf TV series (including the so-called fourth season)
-The entire 5 disk Death Wish collection
-The Ipcress File (a young Michael Caine at his best)
-The current weekly Boston Legal episodes (as they come out)

I'm currently working on Masterpiece Theater's I Claudius

Note to legal eagles: I rarely actually burn these to cd- after watching them a couple times I usually simply delete them. I have been known to save the occasional rare classic- the complete "The Prisoner" series, the complete "Max Headroom" series, and the like. I really DO prefer buying the DVDs if available. I mean, really, who the hell really WANTS five "Death Wish" movies on their hands???

Great story. Loved the animation.

At one time I also had Animatrix. I will one day buy that DVD.

25. I'm a little hesitant to watch "Izo." Apparently it's pretty gory.
As far as Miike goes, it's all about "Gozu" and "Box" (his segment from Three...Extremes). "Audition" was good though.

10. I agree that artists need to be payed ... but the system is broken
As it stands now it is the corporations that are effectively stealing from the artists, holding back advances that benefit humanity, and just being greedy pigs in general. But that is what they are designed to do.

11. Some British TV shows that aren't available in the states...
I'm in love with the quiz show "QI" it's unlike any television show in America and I just can't get enough of it...so torrents help with that addiction

15. I've seen many series that I would never have seen without the internet
as a result I've even bought the DVD sets so I can have them for posterity sake...so take that Mr. Copyright people, torrents have actually made me go out and buy stuff.

Stuff I've discovered via the internet(and wouldn't have otherwise)
Father Ted
Blackadder
Vicar of Dibley
A Bit of Fry and Laurie
Monty Python's Flying Circus
The Office
Jeeves and Wooster
QI

The internet has turned me into a total Anglophile or at least when it comes to British Comedy

20. Do you know the site UKNOVA?
It can be a pain waiting / checking to get a sign-up (they only make spaces available when a member leaves) but it's worth it. I've managed to see catch up on loads of great British TV from before my time and re-watch stuff I forgot to record.

http://www.uknova.com

FWIW, they're currently hosting a pack of series 3 of QI plus all the series 4 episodes that have aired to date along with Stephen Fry's excellent documentary "The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive".

and use it frequently. I saw that documentary and it was really great, heartbreaking at times but really well made and quite enlightening. I had no idea that Fry was so close to committing suicide 10 years ago

called "Life on Mars". I highly recommend it. I d/led the first season. Only 8 episodes. But the next season starts in January. If you like time-travel stories (sort of), I think you'd enjoy this. Word of warning, it's based in the north of England, and the accent takes a bit to get used to. You can check out the story line at the website (i.e Life on Mars)

30. "Something for Nothing"
LWIII

You can pull one of my songs right out of thin air
Go ahead and download me, see if I care
In love, war and cyberspace, everything's fair
And it's okay to steal 'cause it's so nice to share

You're in luck 'cause last night, it happened again
I was feeling creative about twenty to 10
So I sharpened a pencil and I wore down its end
And now soon you'll have something to share with your friends

It took twenty minutes to write down this song
The tune's public domain so I didn't do wrong
I chewed up the pencil and the eraser's all gone
Scratched my head and my balls, but it didn't take long

Songwriting's not so hard, it's well-understood
Anyone can do it and everyone should
I'm sure you could write and sing something as good
With some balls and a pencil, I'm sure that you would

A PC's like a crowbar, it's only a tool
And music flows like water from a big public pool
But I wanna get paid for my work, but I'm a fool
Because trading and sharing's so awesome and cool

I don't mean to be flip, I don't want to be pat
Those Metallica guy are all getting too fat.
Free information, yeah, what's wrong with that?
Something for nothing, that's where it's at

And those moguls run labels and you call them all crooks
Because they crunch the numbers and they cook the books
But I signed that contract and I got my hand shook
Shaking hands with the devil, it's not as bad as it looks

You can pull one of my songs right out of thin air
Bootleg and download me, see if I care
In love, war and cyberspace, everything's fair
And it's okay to steal 'cause it's so nice to share
