Lounge Vibes Please: They think my dad has Leukemia...

He called me tonight. Initial test were positive for Leukemia.

They took a bone marrow biopsy today, plus blood tests and 3 different skin biopsies due to skin growths on his side.

He had tests last year that showed a near-zero white cell count (If i remember correctly, he doesn't always talk freely about his medical stuff). He spent some time in the hospital trying to get his immune system to kick back in. After a series of tests, the doctor was inconclusive as to the cause and sent him home.

He saw a new oncologist recently who said the previous doctor's testing was incomplete and he began a new battery of tests, which initially showed Leukemia.

The new tests today will be more conclusive. Maybe it's nothing, maybe it's Leukemia.

Either way, please send some lounge vibes my way...

My father is currently undergoing chemo for Stage IV lung cancer. He is doing well so far...they cannot cure it but hopefully they can provide him a few more pain free years.

I do know several people who turned this disease around through diet change, so there is hope if it does turn out to be leukemia. But let's all hope the tests come back negative for that.

65. I know how much that stinks

My doc had test results in hand the Wednesday before the Thanksgiving weekend...and would not tell me over the phone, fax a copy, or otherwise be decently human about it, no, they wanted to go eat turkey. We showed up there Mon morning. "No walk ins" they said. Hubby...er...convinced them to give me the test results. They also tried to put me on anxiety drugs, probably to get me to shut up and stop being so demanding.

(Was a case of thyroiditis btw. Really odd symptoms including low WBC in my case. The internist luckily did not think they were psychosomatic "female complaints" like, uh, 75 percent of people I talked to, and did the proper tests. Waiting for follow-up blood test results again!)
