I am so very stressed out about school right now. |
|
I need about another week to get everything done, and I haven't got one. I have a paper to redo, and the comments on it are so fucking negative I have a hard time getting myself motivated to even look at it, let alone try to fix the "disaster" (yes, that is an actual quote from my professor.) It's only this one class I'm stressing about, I have As in everything else, but this class has me very worried about my grade, even though I know the material backward and forward.

Email the paper to me. What is the problem? I'm pretty good at editing.

CB: Sally's really stressed out about starting school. I think if somebody said 'kindergarten' to her she would jump 20 feet. Lucy: (walks over to Sally) kindergarten Sally: aaaaaaaauuuggghhh!!! Lucy: I knew you were exxagerating. That's only 15 feet.

7. OK, concentrate on your thesis statement. |
|
Everything follows from that. Googled this up, it might help. http://www.indiana.edu/~wts/pamphlets/thesis_statement.shtmlYou might find that if you modify your thesis statement that your paper is easier to write.

1. Make your thesis statement in an opening paragraph. For example, President Bush is a liar.
Now, group Bush's lies into several categories.
2. Write a paragraph (or more) about Bush's lies on fiscal matters. Give three examples.
3. Write about Bush's lies on social policy. Always try to give at least 3 examples.
4. Write about Bush's lies about the reasons we went to war. Several paragraphs, lots of examples.
5. Conclusion. For all of these reasons Bush is a liar. Note: You are only proving Bush is a liar. Do not finish up by saying Bush is a liar AND he should be impeached. That is a different paper.
Keep your eye on the prize, which is proving your thesis statement.

sympathy. I remember when I was working on my degree at night, and I didn't have children at the time, and there were times when the stress felt overwhelming.
But I got through it, somehow I found a way. I remember, like you, one particular class (although there seemed to be one each semester, but one semester in particular was bad) where like you I felt I knew the concepts and practices backwards and forwards, yet somehow I kept getting crappy scores on tests and papers.
Even nearly got into an altercation with the professor (he laid hands on me I didn't raise my voice or touch him).
Yet, I managed to find a way to work through the stress. I can't say what I did at the time, probably a lot of running (that was before my Knee said "Enough of that nonsense!" :) )
So sorry, all I can do is offer sympathetic encouragement and say usually when you work hard at something you really want your brain manages to get you through it one way or another. At least in my experience, and if not, be sure to keep it all in perspective in your life.

I have two final exams today. One at noon and the other tonight at 6 p.m. I also have to memorize my poem for my final presentation Monday night.... 100% memorized, no less... write an analysis... study for my last exam on Tuesday morning. All this while working full time... makes me want to go hide under the bed or cry or something
Good luck to you on fixing that paper... just take a deep breath and jump in there and get started.

a writing lab at your school? Sometimes it helps to get some objective third party to assist.
