Is there a cd scratch repair that actually works

We have several discs that have scratches, I've tried repairing cd's before but I wasn't satisfied with the result, is there anything that works?

1. are the CD's still playable?

if so you can just burn another copy of them using a blank disk...I've done that with several CD's that I knew I was keeping in my car and would probably get damaged

2. Yes it's the odd track here and there

My wife is the culprit, she scratches them getting them out of her cd cases in the car, I've been burning copies for her and putting the originals away, but, there are some I haven't got a copy of, I need to get them on working order.
