Why is it that no matter what side of a closed door my dog is on,
she always wants to be on the other side of it?

1. Because...
the situation on the side she is on is secure. Who knows what might be on the other side. It needs to meet her level of security, regardless.

That, or there's you/food/toys over there.

5. So, she just needs to know what's on the other side to secure it
or feel secure?

I'm in my office/bedroom and the door is closed, she's with me and she is sitting by the door wanting to get out.

Sometimes if the door is closed and she's outside of the office, she just wants to come in in the worst way.

The reason the door is closed is because we have another dog, that's 10 years younger and always wants to play with her, something she doesn't like. :)

6. She's on patrol, doing her job.
All you need to know, I think.

2. She's ensuring you won't turn into a coach potato. Dogs take
that duty seriously. "If my person has a heart attack and drops dead, who'll feed me and take me for walkies?"
