What do you gloat over?
I've been told that gloating over someone else's misfortune is covetousness, one of the 7 deadly sins. But I really can't help gloating over the fact that my ex-husband's second wife is fatter than I am, and my second husband makes more money than my ex!

2. But, is it malicious self-satisfaction or just a statement of truth?
Frame the "gloat" for what it is.

I am, btw, no fan of the word "fatter" in any way.

3. I don't gloat.
Well...unless I'm right and no one believes me. Or unless someone makes a big fuss over something and then winds up looking stupid. Or unless...

Or...

Hmmmmm....

Maybe I do. Just a teeeeeeeeny bit. I try not to, though.

I really do try.

7. not much
but I did pick up a stray puppy about three months ago that is slowly turning into a horse. My Dad said he wanted him, so I turned him over to him. My Dad is convinced he is lab/german shepherd. The dog has brindle over his legs, which are huge, and it is starting to show up on his face, too. I am thinking he may have some dane or greyhound in him, since he doesn't have a pit or boxer jaw, and those seem to be dominant traits in a mixed breed. He's only six months, and probably 75 pounds by now, and getting taller and bigger every day. I don't think he has a speck of lab in him, for one thing, he'd be alot smarter and easier to train.

If this dog turns out to be Dane I *will* gloat.

8. If somebody corrects something I said in a
rude, know-it-all kind of way and then I get to prove them wrong; for some reason, I find this to be fulfilling enough to gloat (inwardly, of course) about. (Does that just make me too easily fulfilled? In general, I don't think I'm that way.) The thing is, if somebody makes a factual mistake of some sort in front of me I will go out of my way to do it as politely as possible if I think it's even something worth correcting them about. (Like, I'll say, "I think it's actually this..." when I reality, I know it's actually that!)

It doesn't have so much to do with proving people wrong; in general, I hate seeing other people embarrassed as much as I hate being embarrassed myself. But I make an exception for pushy people who think they know everything.
