Carson Williams Christmas Lights Videos
Remember that awesome video of Christmas lights from last year?

Here's another version of the same display, which I hadn't seen:

So what's Carson been up to this year? Looks like he's going quasi-professional. The City of Mason, Ohio (Close to Cincinnati) has helped him build 2 full sized replicas of his house and last year's display in park near to where he lives.

Mason Christmas lights creator brightens up other cities, too
Carson Williams designs holiday displays in Colorado, W.Va.

MASON — Williams' light show in his front yard one year ago caught worldwide attention on the Internet, where people e-mailed copies of a video of his Christmas lights and shared links to sites featuring a beer commercial that also included his light show. The display caught on locally as well — and lasted just one week. Williams agreed to turn off the lights after a minor traffic accident and promised his neighbors that he would not set up a display again at home.

On Saturday evening, holiday decorations twice the size of Williams' 2005 version will be turned on — in a city park.

<snip>

The display, featuring two full-size replicas of the front of Williams house, with 40,000 lights synched to music with computers, is expected to draw 20,000 carloads of visitors through Dec. 31.

<snip>

All the attention in 2005 prompted Williams to start a business to design light shows for other cities and businesses:

• The Good Zoo at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, W.Va. opened Nov. 8 and includes 35,000 LED lights.

• Symphony In Lights at the Northfield Stapleton shopping center in Denver, Colo., opened Nov. 18 with more than 250,000 lights.

6. Hippie, huh? Were you one of those Deadheads?
I'm an old hippie myself, and went to see the Dead once in Zanesville, OH before they were.

I see you just joined DU a couple of days ago. Welcome aboard!

Peace, it's still a good idea.

7. Hi Lasher.
I was born in 66 I missed all the real fun... doesn't mean I'm not a hippie though.

Never got to see The Dead with Jerry, a regret I'll have forever. But I've seen Rat Dog, Mickey Hart and Phil Lesh and Friends.

Thanks for the welcome.

3. I like the story behind it as much as I do watching the video
And I like the video a lot. Wonder how hard it would be to set my house up like that? My Commander in Chief already makes me put up so much stuff it looks like the Grizwold's place. One night last year a plane tried to land on my roof.

9. Too cool!
I want to be just like these guys when I grow up! Boo hoo, I only have a regular Christmas display that just sits there - no AM radio broadcast of Wizards in Winter, no little men that look like they're running around, no nothing.

Maybe next year. Surely somebody's gonna come up with a package you can buy, for weenies like me who could never build such a thing from scratch.

Thanks for the link, that one's pretty good. Hope you and yours have a great Christmas.

Lasher

10. I would hate to be his neighbor.
I've seen meth users who weren't that animated.

12. Heh heh. In the article it says he had to shut down last year after only 1 week.
His display was causing trafic jams. He also promised his neighbors he wouldn't do it again this year.
