What I saw today
When I walked into town today, I found the shopping centre taken over by a market. People selling all kinds of things, and a number of simple fairground attractions also. If I had known I would have taken my camera, but alas I did not have it with me. I did manage to take a couple of snaps with my phone:

This was my favourite thing of all, a steam powered traction engine:

I asked one of the guys about it. He said it was built in 1925. I asked him if it was powering the carousel (above) and he said usually they did, but today they weren't because of some local regulation or other. He said in fact they can generate power for up to four rides. I asked him what horsepower it was, and he said it is 10hp. I thought that is not much for such a big engine, but what a wonderful machine nonetheless.

 :loveya:

The weather was fabulous today. Bright and sunny, although rather cold. It was very lovely in town today, as you can see.

15. I did see those earlier...
certainly there are some subtle differences, but it somewhat reminds me of Maine... without the marshes.

17. It is... certainly the buildings aren't as aged... at least not in the section of Maine where...
I lived. It was in Scarborough, just south of Portland. A small "suburb" if one can even call it. I went to school in a four room schoolhouse that has long since been shut down. I think the trees and the clean nature of the air in your photos are what reminds me of it... as well as the quiet scenery. It really doesn't have a downtown and it was quite muggy when I was there.

18. How wonderful!
Your town always looks so beautiful. Someday I'll have to take some pictures of my little village. Not quite as nice but main street is pretty cute. I can't even find a decent pic on the web. :(

Looks like you had a nice sunny day today. Here too. But cooooooold. Good thing I had Pilates this morning to warm me up!

23. Hi u4ic!
I didn't bother with the carousel. I was too focussed on finding something to eat, and once I had that the engineer nerd in me had to gawk at the steam engine for ten minutes. :D
