1. Once in a while
I get this overwhelming craving for it and I'll eat it every day for a week or so. Then I leave it alone for another couple of months. I'm a Binge Beller.

vegetarian, also eats at Taco Bell. I actually get cravings for their bean burritos on occasion - yum. I figure a little extra bacteria now and then is good for my constitution... ;-)

Seriously, though - as a vegetarian 99% of the time, that's really the only fast food place I'll go to, unless I just want fries from McDonald's.

19. yeah, that's right... I forget about it b/c there's no BK in my tiny
little burg here in western NC. And I know this is paranoid and probably totally irrational, but I feel that the veggie burger is probably so rarely ordered that whomever makes it resents it and spits on it or something. Yes, weird. Those AREN'T the kind of extra bacteria I want in my food. A few roach parts, OK. Random spittle, no.

29. I'm sorry. Truly, I am.
I still order them when I remember they have veggie burgers, am near a BK and want some lunch...

It's just that whenever a menu option seems to me infrequently ordered, I imagine the burger sitting under the lamp forever, or worse.

Really, I do apologize. I shouldn't inflict my paranoia on anyone else, and I really didn't mean to diminish your enjoyment of them.

The Veggie Whopper itself may have been fine. I don't know. But the point-of-purchase signage sucked. "Try One Next Time!"

We have in and out burger here and their fries are definitely vegan (ingredients: potatoes, veg. oil, salt) and not fried with anything else, but I realize most places don't have them. If you have Sonic I'm told their tater tots or whatever are veg.

76. If you're not a vegetarian, but you ARE short on cash...
...a couple of the chili-cheese burritos with onions will do wonders for a grumbly tummy.
You have to ask them to put the onions in, though. They're not made with them unless you ask for them specifically, but the onions go very nicely with the chili-cheese flavors.

:yoiks: My husband eats there frequently, though. The ones around here always fuck up orders, though. One time, about ten years ago, my husband threatened to drive up to the window and instead of ordering, just say, "Here's ten dollars. Just give me a bag of food." If they'd told him they don't do that, he was going to counter with, "Why not? All the other times I come here, that's what happens. I don't get what I order!" Not long after that, they came up with the Variety Pack or whatever it was, and guess what? It was $10 for a bag of food. :P

A taco is actually a lower point food. If you're craving junk food, it's one of the better things to eat. Living in LA for many yrs I know real Mexican food but, I still think Taco Bell tacos are good. Just don't get one of those burritos wrapped in a Gordita wrapped in a crunchy shell wrapped in another Gordita.

and had the giant big-ass steak burrito...I think that's how they list it on the menu! Anyway, they press their tortillas from a raw lump of dough on a griddle when you place your order, and the meat and veggies are always fresh.

that sounds more like Mexican fast food. Taco Bell is ...well just Taco Bell. As long as you aren't fooling yourself, it isn't that bad. I like the plain cheap hard tacos add onions. As long as they haven't been overfilled with the meat-like substance and the shells are less than a decade old, they're pretty good munching.

Oh and whoever mentioned the fire sauce - I like a good hot salsa in real Mexican life, but for this joint, the mild actually has better flavor.

40. Here's a weird story...
A high school friend of mine (back in the mid-1970s) worked at a Taco Bell in southern California. She said the "beef" arrived as a white powder, to which they added water, and somehow it turned into "ground beef" or some strange equivalent of it. I never found out what was really in it. It's probably something else today.

My first real job was folding burritos at Taco Bell for $4.25 an hour. To this very day the smell of Cinnamon Twists make me nauseous, but I'm an absolute addict when it comes to their burritos. What I REALLY miss are my ultimate Enchiritos. When I worked there I used to make these monster Enchiritos using the big burrito tortillas, and I've always missed them. The little ones that they normally sell just aren't filling, and they cost too much to buy several of them.

I did used to order from one when it was near, sometimes. I am truly scared to death of ground beef and not too sure chicken is safe either, so stuff without the meat I figure is okay now & then long as i got lots hot sauce. . . .

Thankfully that's not an option anymore and I do my occasional nacho cravings at home now, a little safer, I'd say!

back in hgh school. Not Mexican food by any stretch, but pretty tasty for what it is. I'm not deliberately avoiding them, but I seem to recall that they were at the forefront of some pretty abusive treatment of migrant workers in the Florida tomato fields; I'd probably research that first if I got a hankering for some TB...

54. The Mexicans at my barn say the TB bean burritos are pretty close to the real deal
We've ordered a sack of them (at .89 each I honestly think these are some of the best lunch deals around) when someone brings in a batch of homemade menudo for lunch and had a veritable mexican feast. I never have asked them about any of the other stuff at Taco Bell, I'd guess it gets pretty far away from authentic the farther away from the bean burritos you get.

When I've literally been down to the last buck, it's always either a Taco Bell bean burrito or a Wendy's baked potato. As a vegetarian, these are pretty good cheap alternatives.

65. I try to avoid most Mexican food
here in Worcester. Moe's Southwest Grill is okay, though, and I get a craving for it now and then. I'm just waiting until El Pollo Loco franchises reach Mass., because it's the only fast food Mexican (other than Moe's) that I completely and totally miss here........

66. I live in Texas. Why bother with Taco Bell?
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 04:35 PM by GOPisEvil
I can get REAL Mexican fast food, made with better ingredients. For example: http://www.changos.com/

69. Other: when it's 2 in the morning in Coral Springs, FL
in the dead of the holiday season and everything else is closed, THEY are open.

That's about it. Don't go near the place any other time. :D

70. Never eaten there in my life, and I detest their parent company.
I do, however, see the draw of a taco sack at 2am.

72. I know it is crap, BUT....
When I am in the middle of nowhere, it is the one place I can go where I can get a vegan meal (bean burrito, no cheese). So I give Taco Bell a pass and heartily welcome its sign from a distance.

74. voted other, haven't eaten there in a decade or more
they used to have a competitor called taco tico MUCH better food, alas tico changed their recipe and still didn't overtake the bell

the best thing about the bell was the cute commercials they used to have with the chihuahua

so i can't fairly vote on food i don't eat, i'm sure it's fine and well priced it is just not something i ever do as we are not fast fooders (hate to brag but i'm a fine short order cook)

75. I used to work there and I can still eat it every so often
so it can't be that bad. I did learn enough to ask for NO GREEN ONIONS however. Those things would never keep not matter what you did, and that was over ten years ago.

77. crispy tacos!!
I like their crispy tacos with NO tomatoes and NO hot sauce. They are mild enough that I can feel like I'm eating mexican without worrying about burning my mouth. And the sour cream helps dilute it.

The caramel apple empanadas are yummy!!!!

82. I haven't eaten there in ages..the Presbyterian Church boycotts them..
(PCUSA) for their labor practices.

Check it out:

McDonald's has been added to the boycott recently.
