I've had the book for awhile, but only recently started to read it. I also have at least a dozen books on my shelf I need to get to. Fortunately, I'm a fast reader, so it won't take too long, but I always get distracted by one thing or another.

In truth, I've had more fun sober than I ever had drunk, but at times it can seem like it is hard, especially when you're struggling.

I've not had a lot of fun lately myself, but, there isn't anything today that I could make any better by getting drunk or loaded... at least not in the long term.

I might forget about problems for a while, but then I got new ones, and the old ones too.

I'm off my soapbox now!

I quit drinking in a small town that I'd lived in for 10 years and got to know people who were sober and really had fun with them. I moved away and I've never connected with people in the same way. Don't quite know why, but part of my new mission in life (like a need a damned mission!) is to get out of my hole I've dug myself into and get back into life.

I'm sorry you're isolated, are you in rural NY? Everything is rural where I live, so anyway, take care my friend!
