My "XM Boom Box" has failed. I can use the vehicle adaptor kit in my car
Edited on Sat Dec-09-06 08:27 PM by KoKo01
and it works great plugged into cigarette lighter in car...but when I remove and place in the Boom Box to play inside my house the Boom Box gives me "error message."

I took it back to Best Buy where I purchased it and they said it's "common problem" and I have to send the Boom Box back to manufacturer.

I did a Google Search for problems and found that folks are using the "vehicle adaptor kit" (module) without the Boom Box in their home Stereo System which is good and would allow me to use Stereo {instead of Boom Box on it's way back to be fixed) to allow me to get AAR and my music.

Problem Is: My "vehicle adaptor kit" works off car batter in cigarette lighter and so when I placed the "module" into my Stereo Tuner to search for station there's no "power" from the Boom Box and I don't have a "cigarette lighter" connection in my Home Stero tuner.

Yet online help from Google says folks just remove their "XM Adapter" from their car and plug it into their Stereo.

Anyone able to help me with this? People using their XM with home stereos succesfully yet my (only one year old) unit only works on car battery. What do the folks using the "home adaptor" in their "home stereos know that I don't as tricks to make it work?

3. 2 years ago I bought the XM boom box with car adapter for daughter
For Christmas. And this was when they were EXPENSIVE and the XM module cost money!
Out of the box, boom part dead. Return to Crutchfield. Get REFURBISHED one back. Refurbished one did not work. Crutchfield says return AT MY EXPENSE to be exchanged.

Unit dropped out of second story window and returned to Crutchfield with note;

Try and refurbish this.

We contested it on our credit card and got FULL refund. Crutchfield never responded.

Friend of mine who owns auto dealership wound up tossing his out of car window when Best Buy said he had to send it back for repair. He said his time was worth more than going to post office to return the boom box.

He now has Sirus with big boom boom that sounds like a home stereo system and it never skipped a beat.

Dain Bramaged reporting

Over and out

5. Love is relative. I still love music. And not that old crap.
I grew up with AM radio and black and white TV. My daughter grew up with Computers, DVD, IPod, Satellite radio, cell phones, and great safe cars.

I am SO jealous.

6. Sorry Koko, but if you replace it, I love this
that I got for my XM radio (by Altec Lansing):

It's small but has a big sound and is extremely portable and can be used with batteries to go outside or wherever.

I paid $100.00 for mine (Birthday Gift to Myself) and it's not even a year old. It was the only Boom that came with XM that I could find in Best Buy. :-( I just mailed the Boom Box back for repair but would like to use it inside. The module works find still in car...but inside I'm without....

7. You need this sort of thing

http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.asp?product_id=5232F640T&categoryid=8570

It's supposedly for the cooler, but it'll work for any 12v cigarette lighter type thing. There's lots of them around, you could try Radio Shack or (ahem) Wal-Mart.
