Wildcard Tiebreaker Question |
|
Why are the Jets seeded above KC and Denver? Denver has a better conference record, shouldn't they be #7? http://www.nfl.com/standings/conference

3. Breaking ties within division first priority |
|
Chiefs are "superior" to the Broncos, so
only compare Jets to Chiefs.
When comparing two or more teams across divisions, compare max one team from each division. This avoids the contrdictions of Team A > Team B in division breakers, but B > A in conference breakers.

4. If KC were to lose its final two division games, |
|
their division record would equal Denver's, and the tiebreaker between KC and Denver would become conference record. In that case, Denver would move above KC, and (if Denver and NY are still tied) the conference record would become the tiebreaker between Denver and New York.
