Do men get more or less verbose when talking to a woman they like? |
|
I have always had the feeling that men freeze up a bit when they're chatting with a woman they feel something for, but I could be wrong. What do you think?

When I'm in person with a girl I feel something before, I can't think of anything to say. I come over very shy. Alcohol used to help, but since I stopped drinking I have nothing to loosen my tongue. Guess that's one reason why I don't meet anybody.

6. Ack! I am uncomfortable on the phone |
|
Again, because I feel obliged to think of things to say. If I have loads of things to say then great, but I suck at making conversation. Actually if I'm in person with somebody whom I'm totally comfortable with, then I'm happy to just be silent. I don't like thinking of stuff to say simply to avoid an uncomfortable silence. I don't find silence uncomfortable. But on the telephone a silence cannot be anything other than uncomfortable.
Lol. I'm a mess. What hope is there for me? ;)

9. billy, I have to be honest, you come across quite well in at least this format... |
|
you appear to be a kind, mature person with a good eye for scenery. Not to mention attractive. If I weren't a married woman, I would be talking to you a bit more. ;) I'm certain that much of that translates to how you present yourself in person or on the phone.

Me too! I'm a total phone phobic. I suck at chit-chat. I'm a quiet person by nature. I don't answer the phone unless I know who it is and I don't make calls unless I absolutely have to. Even then, I have to really prepare myself for it.
I'm just an all around mess.

2. Different for different guys |
|
Some guys clam up. Some guys get nervous and can't stop talking. And there are still other guys who don't get nervous at all and act exactly the same. I think the most common reaction, however, is a shyness reaction where the guy claims up and talks less than he otherwise would.

But I can say, that for me, if I'm really attracted to a guy and I'm face to face, I freeze up. I can't even look them in the eye. It's like my mind shuts down completely, I can't hear a thing, and my face gets flushed. It sucks.
Which is why I'm such a flirt online. I can do that.

I can't flirt in real life. Which is very likely why I do it so excessively in the Lounge.

crack jokes and act like a clown etc. It depends on my mood, I think, I am either one or the other extreme.
The funny WB is much more successful, btw. :)

19. It looks like a consensus is building here. |
|
I clam up. On the phone, it's worse, because you can't really clam up, so you fill the awkward silence with something inane at best, and regretfully stupid at worst.

Sometimes, I clam up; other times, I cannot stop babbling.
And sometimes I'm totally normal.

24. I conciously try not to change my behaviour. I will not let myself either get shy |
|
because it makes you look weak, or let myself blabber (and lose the mystery and intrigue). I'm very comfortable with women anyhow...I have almost no problem inviting someone out for coffee, or approaching anybody. You do it enough times, the chickenshit reflexes are dulled.
Honestly, I'm so used to controlling my emotions and behaviour that I find it hard to imagine being someone who gets shy or verbose. I don't show an emotion unless I feel like it, or want a response to it.
