A newby question
When someone puts you on ignore do you get notified that you're on ignore or do you just figure it out because bits seem to be missing in conversations?

1. I THINK that the only way you can tell if they've got you on ignore
is if you try to PM them...the PM gets bounced back with some sort of message.

Otherwise, they just don't see any of the threads that you start and you show up in other threads as 'ignored'.

I think.

2. You can try to PM them -- if the PM screen shows up, you're not on ignore.
You don't need to actually type or try to send anything -- if the screen's there, you're not on ignore, period.

If the PM screen says "this user has chosen not to receive private messages" (something like that), than the user actually does have PMs turned off or you're on ignore.

3. If you compare # of views to # of replies
you'll see most people "ignore" whole threads, not just replying to someone within a thread.
To be officially ignored, I think you might have to be pretty obnoxious to someone.
I think of this place like a party, having a brief conversation with a group of people and then moving around to another, and another. It would be nice to sit down on some comfortable chairs in a corner of the room and get to know someone better.

4. Why? What did you do?

Sometimes I think I am on EVERYBODY'S ignore, then I will post some stupid obscure question and get 40 or 50 replies.

5. Well
I was reading one of the locked threads and people talking about ignore and I wondered how that worked. I don't *think* I've been obnoxious enough to get put on an official ignore...well except last night when I kept lifting up my shirt :bounce: :bounce: and demanding beads.

:spank:

6. Doubt if THAT will get you put on ignore - more likely to get any ignores removed!
At least in the lounge.

In general discussion? Who knows?
