1. What's with people who feel the need to politicize things that are more than likely apolitical?

I just don't get into politics when I ride - riding is supposed to take you away

5. I'd have to say either....
I know of both scenarios.

Of course, in either case you're talking about someone who overpays for an UNDERengineered bike, so......

11. Under-engineered?
A Harley is a highly-evolved tool for recycling oil back into the earth. Can you get any greener than that? :)

7. I was down in Key West when the Harley tour came to town.
When they drive all the way down the East Coast, upper tip to bottom tip. I would say they lean much more toward Democrat.

Many would engage me and my partner and go out of their way to say how they are suits during the week and Harley riders on the weekend.

And they would talk about how upset they get when stereotyped in an evil, violent way. Could not have met a more warm, open, and embracing group of men and women on a vacation.

13. Probably a general demographic
When you mention "East Coast" and "Key West", I'd guess you'll find mostly Democrats no matter what kind of vehicle they drive. I have no facts to back that up, just a guess.

Has any Bush Brother made it to that end of the state?

Regards.

16. They come from all over the country to participate in this yearly event.
It's sort of a Harley convention, where they drive all the way from Maine, down to the tip of Florida.

10. When I think Harley Rider I think of
a middle aged person desperately trying to hang onto their youth while pretending to be a rebel on the weekends, despite the fact that they work a boring 9-5 job that is sucking their life away. Could be either party but most I've met are Dems.

12. Libertarians.
Stop shuddering--I swear I'm telling you the truth, I have known more than a few Libertarian bikers.

I have also known some bikers who were as Left as it gets and some who were pretty Republican. Just last week I rode with a tow truck driver with Harley floor mats and Rush on the radio. I needed the tow, so I didn't complain...

The moral of the story is that you just can't generalize and it would be cheating yourself not to find out if that particular biker is a lefty, a righty or someplace in between.

Have fun!

Laura

18. My brother and sister-in-law
are bikers, and they're both solid Dems for the most part. The only exception they made in the recent election was voting for John Ensign instead of Jimmy Carter's son. But bikers are like the rest of us for the most part--they're a diverse lot.

26. I've been riding Harleys for nearly 40 years
and I'm a dem. Unfortunately most of the guys in my M/C are real right wingers. We just avoid talking politics and enjoy the ride.

And to the poster who called a Harley a poor man's Corvette, wrong. There is no comparison between riding a motorcycle and driving a cage, whether its a corvette or a beetle.
