count down to the a.m. Hysterectomy
I hear the drugs will be fantastic.
I have been smoking from the nerves.
Well, I didn't really want to birth babies anyways.
Please send happy thoughts southward tomorrow as I'm pretty scared.
But on a brighter note my finals are finally over today. :woohoo:

1. Well, bless your heart, unsavedtrash
Major surgery bites big time. But yes, the drugs are sweeeet. I had this little bracelet with The Magic Morphine Button. My sisters said they'd see pain in my face, and I was so out of it that they had to remind me I could push the button, and within five seconds they could see my face relax.

I'm sorry you're having this surgery. I hope it's not a tremendous blow to you to be losing the organ(s), and that you will be well and healthy when it's over with.

Don't rush back to the computer . . . it's going to hurt to move for a while.

3. Hope all goes well and you heal quickly

Had hysterectomy in '91...took a bit longer for me to heal as was the third time same place belly cut due two other operations that led up to the hysterectomy.

Enjoy the drugs, and if you have a lot of gas afterward, ask for a small cup of prune juice. It does wonders in getting the body started again.

I'm sure all will go well.

My mom had it done a few years ago. It didn't seem like she was "held down" for too long.

I tend to look at it this way---A lot of those "women cancers" are hard to detect sometimes and if you don't have those parts, you can't get those cancers.

Good luck.

5. because they'll have to actually cut through some
major muscle to get to your organs (as opposed to going in vaginally, which they can only do if you've already given birth), be VERY VERY gentle with yourself as you heal. My sister had one last year, and really, the surgery is not the hard part, the recovery is. You MUST take care of yourself post-op. Do you have someone around to help you the first few days?

You'll be fine. No worries. Just do take it easy afterward, OK?

14. You'll be in my thoughts. The drugs will certainly help.
Do check in with us later on. Until then - baby yourself and just hunker down with a ton of comforting things surrounding you.
Also - congrats on having the finals over with. I know that is such a relief.

15. Here's hoping for a smooth procedure, caring nurses and a doctor who is liberal...
with the narcotics.

Best of luck to you. Hang in there and come through with flying colors!

19. Know Many Who Had Trouble-Free Hystos; Hope To Add You To That List!
I know quite a few women who've had hysterectomies, either as elective surgeries or to correct a problem, and all them had zero post-op problems. My friends are childfree, and therefore nullaparous, and some were able to have the vaginal procedure (it really depends upon why it is being done). No matter what, don't lift anything heavier than teacup once you're out, and best wishes for a quick, uneventful healing!

And here you are. I'm taking that as a good sign. I will be thinking many positive thoughts for you.

22. I had it done almost six years ago. Third greatest day in my
reproductive life (after the birth of my two girls). The drugs are indeed fine - enjoy! I had the vaginal one so it really wasn't that bad. I hope yours goes smoothly!
