I would be an established fiction writer in another country (any other country but this one) with no student loan debt to speak of. :P

You?

Edit: Grammar.

1. I'd be a well respected biologist in Canada and the world's leader in...
...creating delicious strains of marijuana. I want a caramel/mocha flavored strain!

Oh, and my SO and I would have a little farm where I would have a cow named Io.

1997 - 1999: Corporate job in Texas that nearly drove me insane

1999 - 2001: Corporate job in New York City that was monotonous and boring

2001 - 2002: Corporate managerial job with an overwrought title and too little pay

2002 - 2004: Thought I could write fiction; took a dip in presidential politics

2004 - 2006: Earned a completely useless Master's degree

Presently: Faced with losing everything due to husband's corporate layoff; a nearly completed PhD application sits on desk; lusts to live in another country and write

who could do either. I think Murray was one.

He sorta proved it with the lede he wrote for the weather story, when all they had was film from a snowstorm in like 1940.

And remember, Lou Grant started at the Detroit Free Press.

35. I think there's a general misimpression of anchors...
that they do not write what they speak. That's not always the case. There were times when I was in the newsroom and saw the anchors typing some of the stories into Newsstar from wire reports... although, I think many folks would agree that it's not really writing, per se.

but that's just it. It's copy. It's a script.

39. It is...
and it requires a certain set of skills...writing for print requires a different set. It's apples and oranges...like comparing a screenplay to a novel. Similar, but...not.

17. Mostly my reality isn't too bad...
I'd settle some things and maybe find more time to write.

Okay...definitely find more time to write.

And maybe sell a few books so that I could buy a house that actually has enough room for all my kids.

Other than that...

40. Why another country?
Why do you hate America?

How much power am I getting? Can I go back in time and somehow convince a certain woman to marry me? Can I go back to 1986 and not quit my job for another 5 years until I have saved about $60,000? Can I go back to 1998 and not close my bookstore?

If it has to be forward going, then just put $100,000 in my bank account so I can quit my job.

I mean, it would be nice to have a lover and to have friends, but those would also complicate my life (simplify! simplify!) and they usually end up betraying you anyway.
