Would you consider joining a onion?
Do you think onions are good for the average worker?

1. Heck yes ...
A couple of onions for lunch will keep the boss from getting in your face. Great for workers.

If you're asking about unions, the answer gets more complicated ...

Regards.

4. Unions, on the other hand ...
After a few smart-ass answers (one of which is mine), maybe the question just mis-spelled "union".

At times, I've been in the Teamsters, and the United Auto Workers, and a municipal teachers union.

It was never a matter of "would you join a union", more of "if you want this job, you gotta join this union". The dues were just another tax, and generally not very heavy. On balance, I think unions have done a lot for workers' salaries and rights. And by "osmosis" have done a lot for white-collar salaries and rights. The union bosses can be a pain sometimes (and with the Teamsters, can be downright scary).

A worker by himself has no leverage to bargain for raises, work conditions, etc. Only an organized workforce can influence the business owners.

Regards.
