Put on a hap py face....
I get so. fucking. sick of it. But I keep smiling. I'm feeling decidedly Grinchy today. If I hear one more fuckin' Christmas song, I think I'm going to scream and I don't want to smile and wish anyone a nice day. You know people just say it because it's expected. They open their mouths and it come pouring out like someone pressed 'play' on a tape. Why can't people say what they mean? Just once.

Why can't I?

1. Politeness
If we were all to say what we really meant all the time, we might feel better (or we might not) but all of those around us would be miserable. Which would mean they'd want to spout off about it and then we'd all be miserable.

Manners were invented to keep us all from strangling each other. Wars were invented for those times when manners don't cut it.

2. Manners are one thing...
and I can understand that. But sometimes it seems like people go out of their way to say something that they don't mean.

What ever happened to just being quiet?

5. I think that whole PC thing has been
genetically inserted into our DNA coding somehow.

Maybe it's microwaving leftovers in plastic dishes. Maybe it's sniffing perfume samples at the mall, or those great poster markers. Maybe it's ingesting fast food. Maybe it's all those mosquito sprayers and crop dusters.

Who knows, really. Not me.

But please - please - have a nice day.

;)

6. How would you feel if you rained on someone's parade?

I was in a particularly foul mood one morning while a coworker was gushing about her wonderful weekend ~ I offered to give her a quarter so she could call someone who cares :banghead: I did feel bad about hurting her feelings.

7. That's not even the kind of thing I'm talking about...
and I guess it's not really about the 'have a nice day' thing, either. It's about people who ask your opinion and then get pissed off when you offer it...even when it's offered gently. Or who are doing something stupid and when you point it out, they go ballistic. It's about people who say one thing and do another...or say something that they don't mean in order to achieve an end.

I dunno.

Pay no attention to the woman behind the curtain. I've been in a 'mood' for the past few days.

Might be the holidays. Might be hormones. Might be all of the above.

I'm sure it'll pass and I'll be back to myself.

11. The things you've mentioned would piss me off too!
I've found that people seldom really want my opinion unless it supports the choices/decisions they've already made.
I've lost more acquaintances (not friends) by being too honest. :wtf: I usually offer an escape clause "are you sure you really want to know what I think. Occasionally they'll think twice and answer 'never mind or something like that'.

The holidays gets to all of us at one time or another ... and ... if you don't mind ~ I'll love " the woman behind the curtain" too.

It's a bitch when the world expects one thing and you feel quite another. You just want to scream but you don't. We don't. We're good girls and keep going, like it or not. :(

12. Yeah...we just keep right on plodding along
one foot in front of the other. What else can we do?

Screaming sounds pretty good sometimes.

:D

I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed right now. Darrel's birthday and the holidays and all the baking and working six days this week and then getting bitched at about my hours...

It'll pass.

*sigh*

Never have sex in March. 40 weeks takes you into December and leads to insanity.

Lesson learned.

The hard way.

23. But...but...
it's not March.

Yet.

I like March. Even though it snows a lot, the daffodils and crocuses come out.

Buzzardbutt's birthday's in March.

Bonehead plays at the Cadet Chapel in March.

My mother's birthday was in March.

Ummmm...something else...I forget...

Oh yeah, Spring Training. Grapefruit League and Cactus League get going and there's baseball again and I can breathe. And, coincidentally, Spring. The days get longer.

*sigh*

I like March.

18. Superficial Communications Are Necessary
Edited on Tue Dec-12-06 09:16 PM by Southpawkicker
in our way of communicating in order to make the way for further communications

but I know what you mean

sometimes I just want to say "fuck off", I'm not having a good day, and ...

when I'm feeling like that, I generally try and find someplace quiet.

In my house, that's next to impossible so I go to work instead.

22. Yeah, They Love Me At Work
when I'm like that

but, I have been trying to practice something that a communications presenter did at my workplace:

Acknowledge anyone within 5 feet as they are deserving of being acknowledged, saying hi or whatever, superficial level communications.

It's amazing how many people perk up.

I always feel better when someone says something superficial like that- (not if it is superficial in a relationship, that is lame)

Relationships of all kinds have to start somewhere.

It's strange how someone can have a persona that comes across in their posting or writing, but you have one of being a nice person (regardless of what the OP claims)

today, especially I've been rather prickly. Was even getting pissed off that someone was following me in rush hour traffic. :eyes:

25. I have been wanted to be left alone a lot lately.
Sometimes I just don't want to talk. I only talk to a couple of people. I might wave sometimes but other than that , that's all you're getting from me. I have had so much on my mind lately.
