Why did that guy wanna start shredding wheat?

Why Shredded Wheat? I mean, he could have butterflied the wheat, as a tenderloin filet. He could have rolled it in balls and created "Balled Wheat." Why would somebody want to shred the little innocent wheat? Although I guess it is better than just plain crushing wheat, or making wheat powder. How about "Leaved Wheat?" Then we could drink Wheat Tea.
