5. I knew this one was going to be caustic; "Timon Of Athens" is
Shakespeare's angriest, most bitter play. It reeks of misanthropy. Some scholars suggest that this was because Shakespeare was old and tired when he wrote it, and his talent was fading.

These are scholars who apparently never saw the sublime "The Tempest", written after "Timon" and which concludes with warm forgiveness and reconciliation.
