I SO want to boycott Christmas this year...
For no other reason than I'm broke, haven't done a lick of Christmas shopping yet and don't feel like spending the money that I DO have on gifts because I'm tired of being broke. I'm usually pretty much a Scrooge at Christmas time anyway (it's just not the same since I was a kid and that bugs me) but I'm particularly Scroogey this year. If I didn't have a three-year-old, I think I'd be locking myself in my house on Christmas Day and getting drunk on egg nog by myself.

2. Feeling a bit like this?

It's been a difficult year financially for me too. I've bought exactly one Christmas present, and don't currently have the money to get any more. Got the lights on the tree last night, but I've yet to put the ornaments on.

3. I'm just baking cookies for everyone
I can't afford any more than that. Paper plates, green saran wrap, 2 kinds of cookies. i might even buy a bag of dove chocolates and toss a few on each plate.

something to consider doing if you want to give people gifts! who doesn't love cookies? :).

hope you feel better

4. I'm not so much boycotting it
as looking at it in a different way. I'm broke, too. I refuse to play the buybuybuy game. I'm getting a couple of things for my daughter's family & calling it good. If I have a couple of cents in my pocket when I walk by a Sally Ann bell ringer I put it in. In an odd way I've got a little more Christmas spirit, because I'm not playing into the pressure. I hope those around me won't think less of me for not getting them a little something, but if they do, they're not worth knowing.
I work retail & I think there's a whole lot of other people in our situation.
Take joy in your little one. That's who's really important in all this.
