**Movie thread** I just saw Clerks 2

I finally got around to renting this. (Never saw it in the theatre.)

Not the best movie I've ever seen...but it has renewed my faith in Kevin Smith as a writer and director.

Thoughts? Comments?

but to be fair...I had it first! I've been a fan of Kevin Smith for a LOOONG time, and I'm a sucker for his DVD commentaries. I think she was included in one of them. Cute little thing!

The story that he tells of how he would have done Passion of the Christ was so funny, I almost threw up I was laughing so hard.

8. ACTUALLY, to be fair...

Paul Dini had it first! :P

I just saw it recently as well. and I think the reason that the movie was good (certainly better than Jersey Girl!) was due to Smith's return to the incestuous nature of his first films. He once again used Dave Kline (DP) and, other than Rosario Dawson, was able to reunite his old cast.

Suffice it to say, Kevin Smith is far more talented when not shackled to a studio project!

I do agree with you, though, about the cast. I love all the actors from the original and even the new guy (played Elias) was in a Jeff Anderson flick.

I liked Jersey Girl. Smith has a corny side that he keeps well hidden behind dick jokes and donkey shows. I rather admire that he flaunted his soft underbelly with such gusto in that film.

That being said, I dug Clerks 2.
